    Best shrimp for betta?

A betta that will eat the eyeballs from snails is absolutely going to eat any shrimp you put into her tank. Even if she can only eat it a little at a time...!

Do all albino corys school as long as they are the same color

If the seller also has a mix of albino aneus and paleatum and both are breeding and producing young, they might not even know themselves that they're producing albino variants of two different species. They're not hard to breed, no licence or expertise needed to produce and sell offspring. If a...

    What are you doing today?

They've just taken to squatting in the basement? Hmm. I wonder when their breeding season will be in the climate there? :book: Since that's when they tend to go runabout, and you find them in strange places. Like when I found myself trapped in a room because a huge one was just poised above the...

Do all albino corys school as long as they are the same color

That one closer to the glass with the curved dorsal is the one I also thought was paleatum, so nice to see it confirmed, ty :)

Do all albino corys school as long as they are the same color

Need a longer video with more close ups, especially on the smaller ones. I'm confident the largest three are anea, but at least one of the smallest is a paleatum, the small one on the left of the group that then swims right moved just enough right at the end for me to get a good look at the head...

    What are you doing today?

Today is "spiderproof the house" day, now!! Well, can't really spider-proof it, but definitely spraying thresholds, almost everywhere around my own bed and bedroom with citronella and peppermint, anyway! I was late doing that this season, and a big house spider just reminded me of that overdue...

    Live food collecting! Any tips?

Speaking of dragonfly and damselfly larvae though, when I was clearing a load of excess plant from the pond I captured this dude accidentally, and popped him in the wild birds water bath to snap some pics, shows the size these things can get to! And why they're such an impressive little mini...

    Live food collecting! Any tips?

Wish I had a better method for sifting out the live food I want to collect, does mean adding a fair amount of dirt and detritus to the tank even when I netted, rinsed, put into clean container and netted again to remove the worst of the muck and check for mini predators. But worth it! Since it's...

    Live food collecting! Any tips?

Haven't been culturing live food recently since not breeding yet, but happened to spot some mozzie larvae & (bloodworms?) in a bucket of sand I was about to rinse that far collected rainwater. I put bloodworms on brackets with a question mark since I think it's some other type of worm... have...

Anyone have success with plants with just sand, light and adding some liquid fertiliser?

Nearly all my tanks have been sand and/or gravel substrate, and tons of the plants have done fine even when I was very forgetful about adding root tabs or liquid ferts! Even the ones that appreciate a root tab (and some cheaper, but name brand root tabs, like Tetra or API brand ones, are still...

    Need help with fish eggs

Sorry this batch didn't work out. But yes, it happens, and if you find yourself wanting to try again, you can use several methods to try to encourage the adults to spawn. Ideally you want to condition them with good food, water changes etc, and try to time it so you have free time to monitor the...

    What are you doing today?

Ouch, your poor girl! I hope she makes a fast rebound from surgery, poor thing. Even with feeling rough post-surgery, she has to be feeling better with that thing removed! Can hard water do that then? Always dealing with limescale build up in kettles, around taps, on aquarium glass... had long...

    What are you doing today?

Losing my mind, somewhat. Brother is in the hospital, had been on antibiotics for a week for a diabetic foot ulcer. Didn't heal, finally agreed to go back to GP centre today, now at the hospital and they're apparently talking at least a partial amputation. He's not even 50 yet, and already...

What are your favourite or memorable aquascapes that you have seen in the past or present?

I've only just discovered this channel, but already blown away and think this guy is a genius! Makes me want to work on my DIY skills to be able to make an amazing tank like this! Seriously considering getting some firewood, a saw, and learning how to use the maisonry drill we have.

Exciting Times - Planning new tanks & new fish .... YAY

Loving these too! Was watching his one about cultivating mosses (in case I do an emerging piece of wood/section on one of the large tanks) and this one came up. Very appealing! But knowing me, every time I used the lamp I'd be spotting something I wanted to change/add/remove, and would...

Exciting Times - Planning new tanks & new fish .... YAY

Wanted to watch a video with some rainbow shiners, just to see them after I'd been doing some reading about them, and found this lovely little video: Linking it here not so much for the rainbow shiners (although I am now thinking they might be a good tankmate for the eventual botiid loach tank...

Mystery Hoplo! ID needed, please! <3

❤️ I wasn't worrying yet about getting them home safely, since it really isn't that far (especially compared to a Canadian frame of reference for distance...! It's embarrassingly close by, compared to how far you guys have to go to get fish! I can't quite wrap my brain around how massive North...

    New betta/shrimp tank

I've decided I don't like the mopani wood piece in this little tank the way it is now - it's just a little too big, so would be awkward to move around it to clean and maintain the tank, and I don't love how it's looking. However, the first, stem branch is pretty long, and I think it would work...

Otocinclas Affinis - Stuck in Net

Glad he got himself free in the end! Could have happened to any of us, so don't feel too bad. Cyber hugs if wanted! :friends:Understandable for it to knock your confidence for a few days. Otos tend to breathe fast already, but a little heavy breathing after freeing himself from the net isn't a...

Love yours, and your giant goldie tank! ❤️ Even though I remember when Neo was a teeny tiny baby you'd rescued, and he's now massive and I can't believe how fast time flies! How about when keeping them with cories and potentially ancistrus too? The tank seems big to me since I'm used to a...

I'm excited for him to have a friend! Given how large they get, that I hadn't planned on getting hoplos, and four of them would take up a lot of the tank (and dig up a lot too!) I'm not sure whether to just attempt to choose a female and hope I got it right, or to bite the bullet and get another...
