I love all the positive comments around here... makes a gal want to stay, ask questions, etc. in an environment where she wont be judged so harshly on her first day....

I appreciate your feedback Byron, I'm going to keep them for now. They seem happy, and I don't actually know if the platies are gonna give birth or if they are just fat and sassy. When the time comes I will do what is required for the well being of the fish, because that's what it's all about...

As far as the pleco goes I will do what is necessary when the time comes. And I'm not going to stress myself out about the platies until they give birth.

Sweet baby Jesus, so they prob are preggo and that's why they are so fat. I know there was at least one male in there cause she tried giving him to me and there were only 4 fish in there

Thinking about it, but I don't know. The fish would probably love it, but I already spent a good amount on the inside of the tank as it is.

Yea, my bad. So you mean to tell me that these Platies can hold onto sperm sacks from the other males where I got them for six months????? WHAT?!

Yea there is this guy on youtube he has the most amazing 300 gallon schooling tank I've ever seen, now THAT would be nice. I noticed most of the tanks I see have alot of plants. I do not. I have zero to be exact. I just figured with all the extra filtration and bio filters and everything else...

Out of all that I posted that's all you have to say.... well thank you I am aware. I plan on relocating him to a bigger tank once my house is finished getting built. I appreciate all your positive feed back though. Not to mention you should have seen the size of the tank I rescued him from.

Cool, that's the goal. Currently renovating a house so for now it's a five gallon until it's finished.

Sadly, If I have to re-home him in a bit I def will, the goal is to be a responsible fish owner. Kinda sad about it though.

Did you google that or did you just know all that information? If so, that's amazing, and good to know honestly. Yea I really didn't want to breed them because I don't have that much room. I just want the one to stop picking on the other. I think I am going to get one more and see how it goes...

    Identify the fish.

Honestly, I kind of went to my LFS on a whim and saw the condition of some of these fish and had to take some home and try to give them a better life. Previously I have had nothing but saltwater, so the only information I have it that it is a small platy. If he starts to get real big I will...

I did make another thread about my two platies and I also have a plecostomus. I will update my water information later on once I get to my notebook with all my water information in it (im at work). I do have experience with fish tanks, but my last one was 7 years ago it was 65 gallons and it was...

    Identify the fish.

Ok, all wonderful advice, it's been a minute since I been back in the fish game. I only have a 5.5 gallon and I already also have a plecostomus as well. I don't want to overwhelm my tank, so if I get two more do you think that would be too much?
  36. Mrs.Adams91

    Identify the fish.

I've never had a fish that will potentially have babies so I'm a little new to this and don't really even know to how to go about going to my LFS about giving fish away tbh.

    Identify the fish.

Well that's terribly sad, but such is nature i suppose. I will just wait it out and see what happens. What about them being mean to each other? If I was to get one more would that make it better? Worse? Should I even be concerned. I just kinda feel bad for the little girl she has plenty of...
