    New Tank Queries

You're based in the UK, would you be able to get your hands on some "goop"? See here: https://nitrico.co.uk/index.php?cPath=70 I've heard great things about it! I wouldn't add fish straight away, and would do a fishless cycle as normal but I would expect this to majorly speed things along if it...

Thanks Colin! I think I will go ahead and start a deworming treatment, I hope that will help and alleviate some of their discomfort at least!

Thank you, so far treating them for worms seems like the best course of action. I'm not glad that you also went through this experience, but I am glad that I'm not alone and have other peoples experiences to compare mine to 😁

Wow, thank you Adora! That made me so happy to hear, it really means a lot!! And yes, I'm planning to keep them all in the QT until the problem and concern is over ☺️ I mean maybe it could be eggs causing the swelling, but it seems like the swelling is far up the abdomen and close to the head...

My betta fish won’t get up off the floor of the tank

If you can give us some more details about the tank and your fish, I'm sure it would enable more people to help. Include as much detail as possible, like: Tank: size, dimensions, any wood/stone, ornaments, plants, filter (how often you clean it), heater (what temperature your tank is usually...

I can't tell which pathogen or problem is affecting these corydoras, and I don't know how to proceed. Any help or advice is appreciated

I've been quarantining these corys for about a month now, and I still have concerns about them. I'm listing the details and attaching photos in the hopes that some of you may have some ideas or insights into what is going on. I'm not sure if I should try raising the temperature to 30C for two...

Using epoxy in an established aquarium

Jumping in here, but any superglue that is just cyanoacrylate is fish and aquarium safe. It's used in human and veterinary medicine too! Water actually speeds up the "drying" process, so it won't dissolve. Any fumes from cyanoacrylate become inert once they come into contact with moisture...

Can corydoras flick/roll as part of their natural behaviour?

Thank you for the advice. Would 30C be very stressful for corydoras for two weeks? Or do you think they'd be okay? I'm still removing salt from the water, so I won't be able to use heat or other medications for a week or so.

What are good peaceful nano fish to keep with platys?

I'd highly recommend t.hengeli, hengels rasbora. Beautiful little fish, and they school really nice too. I don't remember off hand, but if they don't get too big beckfordi pencilfish would be another good choice. Particularly because of how small their mouths are! Of course, these options...

    Bad idea to get shrimp?

I have two tanks that my cherry shrimp are very happy in. The first is a 54L with plants and a male betta fish named Clyde. Can corydoras flick/roll as part of their natural behaviour?

Some of their barbels are very short, but that happened before I got them. These corydoras are being quarantined with some new hengels rasboras. I need to look at the fish at (0:29) again, while filming I thought it was just bits of the substrate but it could very well be the start of ich...

PLEASE tell me these are fry not some kind of insect larvae 🙏🙏🙏🙏

I'm genuinely considering giving it a go, and intentionally breeding them again. I've never seen any species of pencilfish in any of the fish shops I've visited in Ireland. I'm sure there would be enough demand!
