Has the tank been cycled? I would assume it would have been a fish-less cycle as these are your only fish? Do you know about the Nitrogen Cycle, Ammonia and Nitrite Poisoning? Have you tested your water with a Liquid Test Kit? Neons generally prefer a mature tank (6months + old)

I think my false readings may have been from a contaminated syringe that I used to test the water after I had added ammonia to get the initial reading, I don't remember washing that one out after :blush:. Thoroughly was all syringes and test tubes now and fingers crossed all has been ok since...

I do have a spare filter I got with the tank, is it worth just putting it in as its new and just wash the sponge in the future rather than replacing it (they cost about £6-8 each)?

I know this might sound like a silly question, but is it OK to wash new ornaments in tap water then put them in the tank or would you wash them in the current tank water (taken out of the tank first of course? Same goes with silk plants?) TIA J

£19 for all the fish (in my signature) but £24 delivery on a Saturday, so maybe that price for delivery is about right (about the same as Aquatics to your Door), I knew it would be expensive, just not how expensive.

Funnily enough I have just been looking at there eBay page. Looks good, where are you into relation to them, Have you tested the water PH GH KH from them compared to yours at home? Do you float extra long, don't let the 2 water sources mix when your putting the fish in your own tank etc?

Ammonia was 0ppm this morning, Nitrite was about 5ppm, so 4ppm of ammonia going in under 12 hours, taking 24 hours for the Nitrite. When the ammonia is 0ppm (like this morning) do I top it up again or wait for the Nitrate to come down? Thanks

Reading at 7:30 this evening Ammonia 0ppm Nitrite 0ppm So both got to 0 in 24 hours. Have topped up again with ammonia and will check again at 7:30am tomorrow hopefully will be back to clearing both in 12 hours.
