so far i have only done one water change about 20% yesterday i will be doing 20% each week i think i have alot of live plants as well

tap nitrate levels are around 20-30 the tank is 200 litres

Hi i have had my fluval roma set up for around 3 weeks got sailfin molly and 6 red eye tetra on tuesday. when i first got my tank i added some gravel from an established tank and some bits of wood from the establised tank as well and i cleaned the filter from the other tank in my new tank to try...

i do like the firemouth cichlids but i aleady have the red eye tetra and sailfin molly i dont think it would go with them would it?

ok i might think about having just one or two schools then because i can see how it could look messy with lots of different kinds with the rams and keyholes if i got 2 of each would they fight if they didnt pair up or if they were both male or both female?

i was thinking of having the sailfin molly 6 red eye tetra 10 rummy nose 1 ram 1 keyhole 6 colombian tetra and maybe some neons will this be overstocked?

i think i want quite a few kinds of fish though not just one or 2 kinds of tetra

just wondering out of the fish i said what would go well ans how many of each could i get without overstocking?

i think i would like maybe a ram and a keyhole cichlid ive read that they can go together on quite a few sites maybe some colombian tetra ,rummynose tetra and maybe some neons not sure yet ive read a few people saying there neons have been killed by red eye tetra but others say there fine

Hi i have a fluval roma 200 just started stocking it so far i have got a sailfin molly and six red eye tetra. I know they can sometimes be aggressive but so far they all seem to be getting on fine if anything the sailfin chases them away. just after a bit of stocking advice on what we could put...

ok thanks i will get some pure ammonia as soon as i can just thought id ask about my results because i thought that the nitrate going up was the last phase

oh thats good then ive been adding quite a lot of fish flakes and the ammonia and nitrite have never gone up i know its better to use pure ammonia but surely after all the flakes the ammonia or nitrite should have gone up a little in a week but it has never changed only the nitrate getting higher

Thanks for all your help everyone ive been putting fish flakes in now for about a week havent been able to get ammonia yet and today i tested the tap wwater and the tank water the tap water ammonia reading was just above 0 i think but not 0.25 tank water ammonia colour was exactly the same...

ok thanks i will carry on adding a few fish flakes until i can get some pure ammonia and i will keep cleaning the filter sponge from my other tank in the new ones water

if i moved a fluval u1 filter from an already established tank would that make it cycle almost immediately?

can i not just carry on adding a few fish flakes everyday like i have been doing for the ammonia?

ohh i read that having plants help with cycling and i have already ordered all the plants off the internet

got a few live plants in already and some more are coming next week will that make any difference to the cycling process?

Hi i just got a 200 litre tank set up on tuesday i put some gravel in some tights and a log from an established tank and squeezed a filter sponge into it. Today i tested the water and ammonia was at 0 nitrite 0 and nitrate at 40 does this mean it has cycled already?
