Whats wrong with my blood parrot fish?

My blood parrot fishs face has like exploded. It started as a tiny red dot over his nostril and stayed like that for weeks. Then it got worse and became swollen and the red dot grew. After another week, his nostril exploded and bled for a while. I thought maybe it was an absess that popped and...

    Is my balloon molly pregnant?

I bought a balloon molly a couple of days ago and, since she is already obviously balloon shaped, I was unsure if she’s pregnant. I was wondering if anyone could let me know if she is, and how close she is to giving birth to them

    Sick molly

oh really? I was told to change 25% every month (I pressed the phone button wrong, it’s not 15. I do 25) I didn’t realise you are supposed to do 50 a week. The nitrite is not completelt 0 but it’s not dark enough to be the next one down so I just say 0. I do have live plants. I do have hard water

    Sick molly

My tank is an 180 litre tank. It has been running for over 2 years. I have a filter and a heater. The water temperature is 76F. I have two angelfish, 6 cardinals, 4 guppies and 2 mollys in there. I change the water one a month, in a 15% water change. I treat the water with aqua safe and I use a...

    Molly breeding

I would fill the new tank with water from the tank they’re in now if you can. That way, it’s cycled water

    Molly breeding

It’s difficult to say really. It depends on the age and whether they have had fry before in my experience. My molly was not very big at all when she had her first lot of fry and I was told she had weeks left but I thought she looked square-ish and had a separate tank, so I moved her anyway. She...

    Molly breeding

I have been told to separate them around a week before they are ready to give birth as moving too early or too close to the birth can be stressful for them. But I am by no means an expert! I ask a lot of questions myself

Blood parrot fish not looking right

My friends blood parrot fish usually swims around, watches tv and everything. He’s an active and friendly fish. However, today he is staying in the corner, slightly tilted. He doesn’t want to eat and doesn’t act friendly to us like normal. I was thinking possible swim bladder but have no idea...

    Fish not growing

This is just a question out of curiosity really. Nearly two years ago, I bought 3 female swordtails. Two of those swordtails have grown to the size of an adult molly, however one of them is still the size of a guppy (the size I bought them) I read that she might have been stunted but I’m not...

    Pregnant molly

There are definitely plenty of hiding places. Both of the parents are black molly also, so they would definitely be dark. I’ll keep an eye out over the next couple of days. I did have other female Livebearers but unfortunately my Male molly was aggressive to the others, except for the now...

    Pregnant molly

It is possible that I am missing them and they’re hiding. I’m just not sure where they would be hiding or how they would be able to eat if they’re hiding that well! I do have a spare small tank that I could set up as a hospital tank if there is something wrong with her

    Pregnant molly

yesterday my molly looked very pregnant and squared off, like she was about to pop. Today I bought some floating plants to allow for the molly fry to hide in as they are in a community tank. today, the pregnant molly looks a lot smaller again. I know she could have had the fry overnight but her...

Ooh what type of fry are they? I’m curious about non Livebearer fry. I heard it is hard to breed fish who aren’t Livebearers

    Fry nest

Love the set up. Do you think it would be a good idea for me to try and catch some then? I have a travel tank that I modified with holes in the sides and added an attachment so that I could keep it in the main tank water. I used it for the previous fry this molly had (now In my brothers tank) as...

    Fry nest

Looks great! Thank you. I have a lot of fake plants in my tank to create hiding spaces and make it feel comfortable for the fish inside as fake plants don’t get eaten or die and remain a constant hiding place. I also have real plants in there because I know they are good for the fish. I know I...

    Fry nest

I was wondering if anyone could post some pictures of their fry nests/nurseries in community tanks so that I could get some ideas on how to set mine up. I was told which plants to get etc, I just wanted to see how people put it all into action I have some molly fry coming any day now in a...

    Molly breeding

Thank you again. I’m new to breeding and so don’t know a lot so this is really helpful. The fry she had the first time are in a tank I set up for my brother as there are only 5 survivors. So it would be nice if I had a few survive this time around for myself to keep

    Molly breeding

Thank you so much this was really helpful. I kept the fry separate with her first birth because I have angelfish in the tank (smaller ones but still bigger than a molly mouth) and, while they are super friendly to their tank mates, I wasn’t sure whether they would eat fry. This time I was...

    Molly breeding

My molly had some fry on the 17th of July. It wasn’t long after that the Male was mating with her again, as I know is the norm. She is pregnant again I am pretty sure, but I have no idea when she will have the next lot. How long is it after a molly gives birth that she can get Pregnant again? So...

    Breeding

Ah. Okay thank you very much. I just wasn’t sure if an oranda is the same species because the tail is slightly different. It’s not as fancy and is quite short. The oranda also does not have a dorsal Finn and so I wasn’t sure if they were compatible
