well... the little guy is not looking so fat from above anymore, but his stomach is still bulging downwards... im not sure if this is permanent damage from the swelling... he has had epsom salts in the tank now for 8 days. i fed him twice ... very very tiny amounts of peas... any thoughts on...

ok salt bath in progress... i recieved the epsom salt thismorning and have added one level teaspoon to the isolation tank... its got about 2 gallons of water in it, perhaps a little more.

hes doing ok, swelling has gone down... but only on one side of his body... hes in an isolation tank... so ill add the salt to the tank when it arrives - might take a couple of days though, hopefully he will be ok for a couple days.

thanks wilder, ive ordered some epsom salt - im hoping that will do the trick. do you think it would be better to do a one off salt bath (ie the 30 mins suggested on the link) or put the salt in the tank (as the alternative suggests on the link)? if the salt doesnt work - then ill look at meds :)

thanks for all the fabulous feedback guys! ill definately try the peas thing and yes - i made the silly mistake of putting the whole cube in first time! but had to fish 99% of it out. this time around i smashed up the cube and just put a tiny bit in :) also the worms were smashed up too so...

well i added the parasite med because i know nothing about fish and i thought IF it was a bacterial infection in its gut, or something like that, it might help. i figured the medication is an antibiotic type thing. ill do the water change... although i dont understand - would it harm the fish...

i have 4 rummy nose tetra, and 4 neon tetra. i fed them blood worms for the first time the other day (frozen ones). on the packet it said 'ideal for small community fish' the strange thing is, after the fish had finished feeding, i cleaned out all the uneaten blood worms... this morning...

morning update: my rummynose is looking much healthier, hes swimming upright again, but still lethargic. there is now a full bloodworm at the bottom of the tank which can only mean he either threw it up or passed it whole - i have no idea which is more likely. there is also some dark powdery...

still having trouble.... i fed cooked peas yesterday and bloodworm today and my fishie is more bloated and lying at the bottom of the tank... i have separated him into another tank... given him a place to hide... lots of dark, and have added some protozion (for whitespot and fungus) i figured...
