I keep 3 of these in a 99 litre tank (with other fish) all 3 of them seem to like hanging about together, i feed mine on frozen blood worm through a feeder that is stuck to the top of the tank, 2 of them will also eat mussels but one of them is a very fussy eater and holds out for the bloodworms...

I have one of the Xiphophorus alvarezi yellow fish, identical in to the one pictured, had no trouble breeding from him, i'll try & get some pictures later of him and the babies (about 6 months old now)
