    What do u do?

Wolf-dog, where are you? I'm in Toronto, Canada and would love guppy fry if you're willing to part with about 10 of them. I'm going to be stocking a 10 gallon soon. You can send me an email if you're interested and not too far away.

    Ghost shrimp?

I went to the lfs the other night and there were a few ghost shrimp trying to catch small cories in their tank. :X It was awful.

    Another day in petsmart....

Go get em! Petsmart stinks. Petsmart in my area is way worse than WalMart... in Petsmart they're absolutely tiny 8 oz cups....

    danio

Also how big is your tank? If your tank is too small there will normally be 1 very aggressive danio that will take out all the fish until it's the only 1 left. You need at least a 20 gallon for danios.

Dog just ate bottle of tubifex worms

My dog (lab) can eat just about anything and come through okay, unless it's too big and gets stuck halfway through  glad to hear your dog will be ok. crazy animals

    anyone out there use

Thanks. I heard this about plants, I can only hope that mine bring down the ammonia level as well... I've had them in there for about a month now, and I've been cycling for about a week. I suspect that my ammonia level was WAY too high initially, it took several water changes to get it down to...

    Tank Cycled?

Looks like so as long as your tank won't be overstocked! Wish my tank would cycle... (grumble...)

    BIO SPIRA

Hmmm, well my tank isn't heavily planted, but I do have live plants in there. Also, the bacteria comes as a solution... I guess we'll just have to see if it works!

    BIO SPIRA

I'm reposting this her ebecause i didn't get an answer in Chit Chat. Does anyone have experience with a product sold at Big Al's called BioSupport?? It's supposed to be like BioSpira, bacteria that will cycle your tank faster. I've been trying to cycle my 10 gal for a week now, just realized...

    10G tank - with fish

Unless you're planning on getting a larger tank or getting rid of the pleco and angelfish...... What about getting rid of those fish and adding some guppies? Guppies are pretty :)

    10 gallon stocking question

Also, I think the suckerfish you are referring to are plecostemus. You can't add these, they'll get WAY too big for that tank.

    10 gallon stocking question

Ideally, you should add 1 or 2 more tetras if your tank is established (more than a few months old). Tetras are schooling fish. I don't know how big those particular tetras are. I've been told that ghost shrimp are great at eating leftovers, they help to keep a clean tank. As for the cories...

    how long to get

in a 10 gallon? I added ammonia starting 3 days ago. This tank has had fish for two month but I've added a lot of meds recently so I thought it best to take all the fish out and re-cycle it. I'm impatient, I know....

    Sterilizing my tank

Bleach is good. You want to kill that nasty white stuff you had. Although I agree with what someone said about ammonia being a very good cleaner, it does not kill microorganisms like bleach does. After all, the good bacteria feed off it. The only other thing that can kill everything...

    Sterilizing my tank

Bleach it with repeated rinses in hot water. That is the only way to sterilize anything properly. Should not feel AT ALL slippery when done, really rinse it out well. Then I'd rinse a few times in conditioned water just to make sure all the chlorine is gone.

    Dying fish

You say nitrate is 30 and then nitrate is safe. What is your nitrite? Ammonia neutral, do you mean zero?

    Dying fish

Wish I could help, I just euthanized a fish with the same symptoms, I have no idea what went down! Good luck.

    Dropsie

You can isolate her and try treating with Maracyn-Two. A lot of times these fish don't make it, but if you want to try sometimes you can bring them around. Good luck. I just lost a fish tonight :/

platy swimming with head down, tail up

My poor platy... there are longstanding problems in my tank but here's the gist: I'm treating for ich with CureICk and true fungus (Maroxy). I was treating with Maracyn for a few days but that wasn't hitting the fungal infection because it's cottony. Now the platy is swimming around...

    confused and annoyed

OK, I just decided to recycle the tank all over again. If there's still a base level of ammonia there after the cycle, then I guess something is screwy with my test kit or something....

    confused and annoyed

As many of you know after reading previous threads, I have an ammonia problem in my tap water. Ammonia is always at about 0.25 - 0.5 ppm in my tap water. BTW all my fish have been out of hte tank for 3 days because this level of ammonia stressed them out (I think) and caused ich. Since I...

    how long can ich live

Good advice. I'm treating the fish in a separate quarantine tank with ich meds. I have mollies and 1 platy. I'm also doing 100% water change daily for them. I know that's drastic but I've been treating for two weeks and can't get rid of it and even under such conditions they seem happier...

Pica Nuttali posted while I was writing... I wasn't ignoring his advice on the airstone, that probably is the best way to go in the short run.

    Oxygenating tablets...

I am not sure how much they increase the oxygen, but I only bought two plants a few weeks ago and they've multiplied like crazy in my ten gallon. My nitrates were only 10ppm to begin with, they're down to 5ppm now. You can go find the "Proven Performers" in the planted tanks section of this...
