Curious how many water changes are needed as well!

Need opinions on Filter Change please

A sponge filter (air-powered) is not for mechanical removal filtration (aka visible detritus), it provides a home for beneficial bacteria to break-down ammonia :) The AquaClear30 will likely have way to fast of an output for the 10gal, unless you hang it on the short-side (so the flow goes...

    How Dangerous are Planaria?

I did a quick search online and came across this page (not mine) https://fishlab.com/planaria/ They suggest the glass traps only if you don't want to use a chemical "dewormer" (due to tank inhabitant sensitivity) Hopefully you'll get some futher replies/personal experiences! Hope you get them...

    Tank cleaning

What type of fish do you have? What type of filter? What size of tank/aquarium? There is no one size fits all water change routine, but there are definite basics that everyone starts with and then adjusts to their aquarium needs :)

Nothing wrong with that, I wasn't sure if price was a concern or not :) Unfortunately the powerhead will only move water around, I'm sure someone has figured out how to use it as a filter pump, but it would require quite a bit of DIY (if it's even possible) I would definitely suggest getting 2...

Do you prefer to shop online? (Small HOB filters aren't expensive) :) Do you only have Betta in the 10gal, or other fish too? If you only have the Betta (or divided Bettas), this already has the sponge filter media I was referring to :) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082JJJL75/?tag=ff0d01-20

    Unpopular Opinions (fish related)

Absolutely, especially with messy fish and/or pests found in tank :D Otherwise, keep the aquatic supply companies in biz $$

    Freshwater Tank Family :D

Hello all! We have kept fish (single tank/enjoyment only) for over 30yrs combined. Recently (within the last 2yrs) we managed to acquire a breeding pair of Angelfish and are exploring the fascinating world of fry rearing! We have had various types of live bearers (shown in picture from...

I would also suggest to get an intake sponge filter (pre-filter) to protect fins from "suction" damage, it also collects missed food bits, that our fish love to clean off :D

Will the HOB have too strong a flow? There are ways to 'baffle' the output, if it causes too much current. Side tip: Which ever filter you go with, (if you aren't already), be sure to switch to or use a rinse-able sponge media :) It makes fish & keeper SO much happier in the long run!
