    Eliminating Snails

Hi there, I also wound up with an infestation in my 40 gallon tank. I have made it part of my routine to just pick them out by hand. I drop them in a bowl I use just for this purpose. They die within a day and I trash them. This way no shells are left in the tank with little bodies for the rest...

pest snail issues that never were

LOL. I bought a couple of Assassin snails. 1 for each tank. 40 gallons, NO less. Needless to say, I need to buy more! They are carnivores, but could not Keep up with my snail population. I had a 10 gallon tank, that I SWEAR I pulled at least 100 pest snails out of the tank. During a 5 day...

Plants to help hide Platys Fry?

Can anyone recommend some growing plants that would be good for Platys Babies to hide in? I was using fake Grass but have switched over to live plants. I have 3 pregnant females in 1- 40 gallon tank and 3 in another. I don't separate them as it seems to stress them out and they don't give birth...

Not sure what you mean by "great water Parameters"? I had the water tested by 2 Petsmarts, and a friend who has 2-50 gallon, gorgeous tanks, used his PROFESSIONAL test kit. I stated I was NEW at this and needed some guidance. Your question is a bit off putting. As it can be taken a few ways...

I did. I used the filter media and actually used some of the water from the 2-10 gallon tanks the Platys were in. The Platys are doing great.. its the Neon tetras and Day-glo tetras that have now all died. The Day Glo's brought Ick to my tank. Which I never had a problem with. The neon's died...

A friend used a fancy professional type kit. I also used my 7 things to test kit. And 2 different Petsmarts checked the water too. All turned out great. No issues. I waited a week and 1/2 before adding any fish. The only places near me that have fish are Petsmart and Petco.

Thanks so much. I assumed since they were both Tetras they would school Together. Now I have the one Neon and the 4 Day glos. The neon seems to be a survivor. And yes, I did mix the water so I would have the healthy bacteria in the tank. Everything was super cleaned. No soap of course Just...

Hi. Thanks for the add. I went from a 1 gallon Beta tank to a 5 gallon, then 2-10 gallon tanks. I have now gotten a 20 gallon tank, and am using live plants. I have about 4 Platys, 1 Neon tetra and 4 Day Glo tetras. The tank has been up about a week. The water has been tested again and again...
