    First Time Bracker

I'm not an experienced keeper by far but i can say that an SG of 1.005 will be fine - I have 2 figure 8 puffers, 4 bumblebee gobies and a halfbeak and the salinity has varied from 1.003 - 1.007 (majority of the time it is 1.004). Some of the plants began to suffer once the salinity rose above...

    New Dragon Goby

did you mean aquarium salt or marine salt? Aquarium salt is used for medication whereas marine salt is used to up the salinity.

    Sudden Death - Waspfish

That's a possibility as the suddeness of it sounds about right - maybe he got picked on a lot (so stress) and we didn't see it but it didn't look half as bad as that one in the picture but I'm convined that a number of scales were missing. And it's very annoying because that tank is the one...

    Sudden Death - Waspfish

No signs of flicking or rubbing. The girlfriend said that it looked fluffy but I thought that it looked more bleached out beneath the skin. It started midway down the body and continued for about 1.5cm and was irregular in shape which made me think that some scales were missing.

    Sudden Death - Waspfish

Ammonia = 0ppm Nitrite = 0ppm Nitrate = 10ppm PH = 7.5-8. SG = 1.003 - 1.006 (normally around 1.005) 100litres/26US gallons Tankmates: 2x Figure 8 puffers 4x Bumblebee Gobies 1x Halfbeak The waspfish has always been fairly active and up until yesterday when i found him floating at the top...

    Are These Brackish Species

definately not that species of elephant nose i think that it was Gnathonemus petersii. I'm now glad that i didn't buy any pygmy puffers (or the others) on impulse - i don't like the word tolerate it makes me think that the fish will be uncomfortable their whole life. The puffers were being...

    Are These Brackish Species

I was in the LFS with the girlfriend and at the weekend was suprised to see the new additions to their Brackish Water tanks: 1. A few Elephant Noses - I've heard that these are freshwater and are difficult to keep healthy; maybe they are difficult to keep because they only do well in a lightly...

Based On Your Personality, What Animal Do You Think You Would Be?

People say i'm like a panda because they're chilled out and do everything really slow (and sleep loads)! Everything points to it being a carnivore but it eats bamboo because it can't be bothered to hunt - now that's quality!!

    Panther Gobie (neovespicula Depressifrons)

He will only eat frozen food only if he's really hungry and only bloodworm. Mainly we feed him live brine shrimp, glassworm, etc... We've got figure 8's. I know nmonks book says that you can take them to 1.010 but it seems that everyone advises less than 1.005.

    Panther Gobie (neovespicula Depressifrons)

I'll have to keep an eye on him then, he might end up with the archers and scats. And he thought that getting food with the puffers in the tank was difficult.........

    Panther Gobie (neovespicula Depressifrons)

That's interesting mine is kept at 1.005 and has been there for about 10 months is active and eating well; he's just shy of 2 inches, how big is the one that got fin rot? I wonder if they require a higher salinity when they get older? Could it have been the drastic change in salinity that...

    Disposal Of Salty Water

all of the drains in our house drain into the local sewers so we dump the upstairs tankwater into the bath and the downstairs tank we dump into the stormwater drain that is in the back garden.

Want To Start A Brackish Tank

They were so voracious that they would suck on fishes heads untill they were ready to digest they rest of the body. That's a beautiful story!! I didn't mean that you should keep knights with bumblebees - i meant one or the other - but looking back i suppose you could read it that way.

Want To Start A Brackish Tank

Ah, yes, cheers nmonks I forgot to add the warning that should come with most, if not all puffers. That said "they" say that figure 8's are one of the less aggressive species, mine have lived with bumblebees for almost a year now without a problem however it's always in my mind that a...

Want To Start A Brackish Tank

A figure 8 will be fine in a 60 litre. Do you mean a bottom feeder or a bottom dweller because a figure 8 will eat from the top, middle or bottom - if there's food they'll be there! Knight Gobies and Bumblebee gobies are bottom dwellers and should do well in your tank, I would recommend 5 or...

Is It Possible To Breed Fiddler Crabs?

So once i get the tank set up right then i think that I'll give it a go. If anyone can remember the name of the member who has managed to breed their crabs or who has tried in the past then it would be great to hear from them

Is It Possible To Breed Fiddler Crabs?

Laboratories have bred them, i found a report when i was trying to find out any information on the possibilities of breeding them. Just a quick question, and don't think that I'm trying to be funny but what is the difference between the water in the open ocean and the water of a marine...

I'm Setting Up A Brackish Tank

Does that mean that you're living away from home for part of the year to attend college? Hopefully not because you'll need to carry out regular water changes. Archer fish spit at any size, mine spits and it's only 2 inches long. You'll have to research the type of fish and grouping them...

Is It Possible To Breed Fiddler Crabs?
