    Water conditioner safe for fish?

I have a hunch that you may be right as he couldn't answer my question. I'll call the manufacturer on Monday and see what they have to say. If that is the case ( no ingredient that removes chlorine) I will take it back and demand a refund! I have also e mailed a toxicologist who has studied...

    Water conditioner safe for fish?

Oh no ! o_O I did specifically request a product that would eliminate chlorine. I called the sales assistant and he said that it was the natural biocolloid that eliminates chlorine but he didn't know what it was.:( He added that I was asking him too many technical question as he isn't a...

    Water conditioner safe for fish?

I'm not the owner and I bought the product whilst she was away whilst I was petsitting. I will have to explain how this product works and what the list of ingredients are. The sales assistant stated that this product would eliminate chlorine from tap water.

    Water conditioner safe for fish?

I didn't see anything listed and had to look up the product on the shop's site. What ingredient should be listed to remove chlorine ? If that is the case, I will take it back. It's hardly going to win the owner over as if I've been doing something dumb she will not listen to my arguments for...

    Water conditioner safe for fish?

I have bought a small bottle of wc and the ingredients listed are : aloe vera, terminalia catappa and natural biocolloid. I was told by the sales assistant that these were all natural ingredients and not poisonous for tropical fish. He added that even if I added a bit more than necessary...

    Hand Sanitisers & Aquariums?

All of the above is very interesting and as a Newbie pet sitter with only a week's experience , I have a question: why would you put your hands into an aquarium other than clean the plants? If handling any of the accessories, why not just use disposable plastic surgical gloves ?:) Moreover...

Does my betta need entertaining? How do you entertain yours?

Just one question; isn't it possible to use something else that has a coloured light instead of a laser beam ?:) Coloured fairy lights that twinkle. I have tons of them.:)

Does my betta need entertaining? How do you entertain yours?

Totally agree but a laser pen could get into the wrong hands. Moreover, even if one is careful, it could accidentally slip and the beam could hit the eye. Surely there are other colourful lights that exist to entertain a pet? The risk is not worth it as eyes are so precious. :)

I see. I'm only asking as the cube shaped one would be better on her kitchen counter top. I also read that they need to come to the surface and the swim in a cube could be too difficult ? If it doesn't get a new tank and gear, it won't last long. Each and every creature deserves the best...

    Lucky fish. Such a beautiful tank, plants and it's 27 °C !:)

Thanks. Does that mean that everyone who keeps fish in an aquarium has to know the analysis (including quality) of the tap water ?

Day 7 & Finale. So I went to check on the pet every 30 minutes yesterday and 6 hours after the water change (6pm) it started to swim. Up until then it was just floating and looking at it's own reflexion in the mirror. It also ate the pellets that I gave it. So, it seemed back to normal. I...

That's surely a very good idea but it's not my pet.;) I went to the garden centre to see what tanks and accessories are available and they add up to approx. 80 €. I will Google the algae to see what it looks like. Thank you for helping.

No bubbles. I went to see it twice ( every 30 minutes) and it looks a tiny bit better because it swam- not far mind you. It's now sort of floating near the side where I've left the hot water bottle. I hope that I didn't do anything wrong but it doesn't look perky.

It's been over an hour since I changed the water and the pet is still not swimming and in the same place and gulping air. It looks strange and like something is wrong. Could it really be so stressed out by the change of water and container?

So it didn't go well and both the fish and I are stressed out. I did the 50 % water plus I added 1/8 of a tsp of wc. The sales assistant said it was fine as it wasn't poisonous if I put a bit more in. It also contains aloe vera. I made sure that the water was at approx. the same temp. as...

I would also have thought that plastic could damage the fins. I'm only asking as people must be buying them and some shops don't even sell plants made out of material. It says 1/2 cap full for 40 litres of water and the pet is in approx. 1. 1/4 litres of water. I have left the water...

@Hopeful ,OM gosh, I have just re read your post and you meant that I should use a cup and not a net. I actually find that may be better. A net is flimsy whereas a cup is sturdy. I could also filter some of the dirty war through a paper towel to get rid of the residue.

That's right. The man assumed that the pet was in a large aquarium not a 14 cm jar ! I will go and see what the dimensions of her 'holding' bowl are and the jar is tiny 5 inches x 5. I actually do not know how much water is in it neither. The owner changes all of it's water in one go. If he...
