Sudden Death Of All Tank Inhabitants...

That is a good point. Its always possible my heater was the straw that broke the whole thing down before it could be fixed. I think before we even begin setting up a new tank, we are going to look into the heater, and more than likely end up getting a new one. I would hate for anything like this...

Sudden Death Of All Tank Inhabitants...

But if it was the pleco, wouldn't it have effected the tank sooner? Rather than three weeks or so after? We didn't mean to cycle with fish, we just didn't know any better. And, we probably will get a kit. Its just been difficult money-wise. Yeah, I know they're only 20 or 30 dollars, but...

Sudden Death Of All Tank Inhabitants...

Yeah, they all just up and died in the past 24 hours, so I wasn't thinking it was shock from adding the distilled... *edit* Well, apparently its not a complete tank death.... The last ghost shrimp just made his appearance, and seems to be doing fine (knock on wood). I plan to remove him...

Sudden Death Of All Tank Inhabitants...

We added the distilled water about a week and a half ago, about two or three gallons worth.

Sudden Death Of All Tank Inhabitants...

I thought my take was cycled, but I guess it is always possible that it wasn't. I figure I will clean out my tank and start it going again, and hopefully do better with the tank next time around... I'm not sure if it was over population that did it either. When we started the tank we were fish...

Sudden Death Of All Tank Inhabitants...

Here are some pictures (I am sorry for the poor quality - all I have is my phone, my digital camera is missing :/). Two are of the eel, another of one of the bleached looking danio, and another of what looks like some clear, almost milky, long and flowy growth that seems to be in the tank (I...

Sudden Death Of All Tank Inhabitants...

It is too late to help the poor fish who have now passed away, but my hope is that someone will come forward with knowledge about what possibly happened in the tank. I want to know what went wrong, and how to prevent it from happening again. Earlier this week I went camping, and had left my...

    Zebra Danio Concern

As of now the poor fish has passed on :( Thank you, though, to any of those reading this topic.

    Zebra Danio Concern

Regarding the danio I posted about: could it be some ich? I finally was able to get a good look at him, and it looks like it might be something puffy on his upper 'lip'. And, if it is ich, should we just leave him in the tank (or maybe in a net?) until he is feeling better? there's really no...

    Zebra Danio Concern

10 gal tank I don't currently have any way to test my water parameters at the moment, however we take weekly trips to the pet store, the last being two days ago, to get our water checked. The associate said our water was in 'normal' ranges and 'doing just fine'. 82 degrees farenheight One of...

    Peacock Eel Concern

Well, it turned out we did have some ich hiding in our tank, on our plecostomus. So, he might have had some on him, but there was hardly any at all - none that we could see. I think we caught it pretty early, though. Only the plecostomus had it. Our eel was the only other one showing signs...

    Peacock Eel Concern

Hello, We are new tank owners. Two weeks ago, as of yesterday, we got ourselves a wonderful little Peacock Eel. For lack of gender identification, we just call it a 'he'. He is an extremely playful little guy, and seems to love his new home. However, we have a slight concern. Ever since we got...
