I actually do it to prevent ICH. It works WONDERS too. I have been having horrible problems with Ich because I only buy Feeders. (Shubunkins are the exception). I feel that feeders need a chnace at a happy life a well. :D I started adding the salt to my filter in front of the carbon bags...

Yeah my goldfish are piggies...especially Neo, he's my biggest. Now my tank water is cloudy and I have no money to run out and get a new filter cartraige... Grrrrr....(adds a little more carbon to the previous filter and hopes for the best until payday.)

Reminds me of my Goldfish, Neo. He's a jerk and he has developed the nasty little habit of spitting his food up the filter intake (you should see this it's hilarious!!) so that he can clog my fliter. It doesn't work very well....HMmm I think he's trying to pull a Nemo....<bolts down the tank...

I use a little bit of salt with every water change for my Betas, my tropicals and my goldfish. I actually found that my Mollies hate the salt and don't handle it as well as my Gouramis do....My Betas like the pinch of salt and my goldfish absolutely THRIVE on it. Salt is also working well...
