    Blue Acara/ Firemouth Cichlid

That makes sense. So do you think a Blue Acara, Firemouth, (6) Rosy Barbs, (12-15) Black Skirt Tetras, Bristlenose Pleco, and (6) Corys would be overstocked in a 55? I have a Penn Plax Cascade 1000 canister filter.

    Blue Acara/ Firemouth Cichlid

Will do thanks! Any particular reason to steer clear of the long finned ones?

    Blue Acara/ Firemouth Cichlid

My pH is above 7. I’m on somewhat of a smaller budget for the fish so I was thinking maybe Rosy Barbs and Black Skirt Tetras maybe? Thanks for the suggestions! I love the bleeding heart tetra but it looks like they are close to $5 a pop, which will add up if I’m looking to get a dozen or so.

    Blue Acara/ Firemouth Cichlid

I have been debating what to stock my 55 gallon (48 x 12 x 21) with but think I have decided. I’m thinking an Electric Blue Acara and Firemouth Cichlid as well as a couple large schools (12-15?) of a colorful/neat looking fish. And then probably a school of Corys. Any suggestions on what school...

    Angelfish Questions

That’s pretty cool I wish I had the space for that. Are there any colorful schools of fish that would be ok with an angel?

    Angelfish Questions

The tetras don’t nip at the angelfish’s tail?

    Angelfish Questions

I like the idea of having more than one angel but to be completely honest I have no desire to breed them. Can you think of any good colorful schooling fish that would work with the single angel/cichlids/gourami/catfish?

    Angelfish Questions

Darn that makes things more complicated. Is a singe angelfish a possibility? Along with the cichlids and Gourami. And possibly some other fish?

    Angelfish Questions

I see I see. So do you think the Blue Acari, Keyhole, and Pearl Gourami would be ok with 6 angelfish?

    Angelfish Questions

I just didn’t know if a 55 gallon was big enough for 6 angels +other fish? (just going off what I have been reading). I will look into that black lancer because I was hoping to get atleast 1 good size catfish. Thanks!

    Angelfish Questions

That makes sense. If I were to leave out the 2 Bolivian Cichlids do you have any suggestions on a fish(s), possibly a school of fish, to replace them with? Preferably something with a little color?

    Angelfish Questions

Ok thanks! So I’m thinking; (4) Angelfish (1) Pearl Gourami (1) Blue Acari Cichlid (1) Keyhole Cichlid (2) Bolivian Ram Cichlid (1) Bristlenose Pleco (1) Raphael Catfish. Do you think that would work in a 55 gallon?

    Angelfish Questions

If I were to get a school of say 6 angelfish, do they all need to be the same type? Can I have a variety, such as a couple zebra, couple black lace, etc? Also, what would be some good tank mates for them? They would be in a 55 gallon tank (48” x 12” x 21”). Thanks!

    55 Gallon Stocking

That’s some good information thanks! I’m thinking I’ll stay away from the angels and Gouramis and look into a big school or some sort of colorful tetras instead.

    55 Gallon Stocking

Thank you. That’s what I was thinking. From the list of fish I originally posted, minus the catfish and Molly, am I good to get a large school of tetras?

    55 Gallon Stocking

Also, do you know, if I were to put a school of tetras in my tank, say 10 or so, would I have a problem with a Raphael Catfish eating them?

    55 Gallon Stocking

Yah when I get the water in there and up and running and what not I’ll get a water sample and have it checked. Before I put fish in of course. Thanks for the help!

Ok I will do that, I appreciate it. Also, this is what I’m going off of if it helps at all.

    55 Gallon Stocking

Thanks for the information, I will pass on the Mollies. Not sure about water hardeness or pH yet, I don’t have water in the tank yet. Do you think the fish I have listed is overstocking or could I choose some more? Thanks!

    55 Gallon Stocking
