I got a realley good picture of the male today, they are doing great and are even starting to eat flakes off the bottom/filter. I even put a pregnant female in my outdoor pond so hopefully I get a pond full of mollies.
I catch texas cichlids all the time where I live and they are so beautifull especially if they are males and get the giant bumb on their head I caught like 20 today and put them in my pond.
It is hard on a picture to see how amazing they look but in person the male and the females have amazing stripes and all kinds of colors. All the females are pregnant so hopefully I get babies that are males that are very beautiful and then I can put them in my outdoor ponds.
I had danios with a gourami, tetras, platys, corydoras and they were all fine together nothing fought with each other. Bloodfin tetras are very active like danios and mine got along with my danios my danios and tetras even lay eggs all the time.
They stay very close together in the tank which is unlike mollies but they are scared because they lived in the wild were there were predators. The blue tail on the back fin and the yellow on the top fin is so georgous on the male and 2 of the females are pregnant. I hope that they give birth...
Im pretty sure that they were released into the river by the state to try and control mosquito population and they are not invasive and do not cause any harm to the river. And yes you can keep them as pets in texas.
Mine look fertilized but I saw the female do the T shape with the male to get sperm but ya mine look fuzzy too and are starting to darken. I have like 70 eggs so atleast some should survive I have some in a breeder box in the tank and some more in a 5 gallon with methyline blue.
I have a very big platy and they take longer to give birth in a more crowded tank with a male platy but if you want her to give birth quickly i would suggest moving her to another tank.
It is very cool to see them breeding but all of the other fish are eating them I dident know that they spawn this much I thought that it would be one and done.
