    Legos in fish tank?

Otoh Gunga? Or perhaps the Massasi Temples of Yavin IV? Nice, look forward to seeing the end results. Extra points if you include a B-wing! Chris

Can you identify what kind of plants will look like this?

As I've begun the long-term planning for my predator coldwater tank, I've been putting together my to-buy list etc. I came across this picture which I think comes from a backdrop for a tropical tank, but it actually represents the kind of look I want to go for. Can anyone identify the kind...

Searching for standard/common tank sizes online?

Hi everyone, Been a member for a few weeks now, going through a very slow process of setting up my predator tank (probably not till Spring 2022). The problem is trying to find a tank inasmuch as the dimensions. Typically I keep/have kept native British fish so I tend to have them for a year or...

Dwarf or tank-suitable waterlilies (Nymphaea) & predator tank plants

I've nowhere in mind yet. At the moment I'm toying between authentic looking environment (but I dont want to use elodea or cabomba, so that's prob out) or something more creative. Will let you know if I do, though, I wouldn't use wild as I haven't got the nerve for the risk of bringing in...

Dwarf or tank-suitable waterlilies (Nymphaea) & predator tank plants

Thanks for the replies. I really wanted lilies (I have ideas for my other plants, but have made note of the others noted above, thanks) but I'm thinking it's going to be hard to get a corm 'tuber' hidden in the substrate.

    Unpopular Opinions (fish related)

Was that not me in my intro thread? I used to keep four juvenile brownies (Salmo trutta) in a 6' uplands stream tank that had six pumps to create a current. They were voracious eaters and I probably kept my local bait shop in business for a year before I had to give them to the local aquarium...

Dwarf or tank-suitable waterlilies (Nymphaea) & predator tank plants

I'm planning my coldwater predator tank and would like a lily at one end. In the wild where the water is not particualrly deep, the spears and pads grow above the water in an ugly mess. I was wondering if anyone knows of any breed suitable for aquaria, ethically grown etc. Also, as predators...

    Unpopular Opinions (fish related)

New to this site as of yesterday; figured this thread would give me a sense of the membership, and it's wonderful to see the easy banter and consideration. I use a writers forum which is the same, and I thought was unique. Having said that... :shifty: Native UK fish beat any and all other...

Recommended equipment for coldwater predator (Esox Lucius)

I've never had to battle that - I found my carp and tench grew much quicker in warm water although that might be an imprecise assumption - although funnily enough I have been looking at cooling methods.

Hello from East London - coldwater native fish enthusiast

I think it may be that they're seen as pests in some areas. When I was a kid, I used to fish a tiny lake which was essentially full of tiny roach and jacks.

Recommended equipment for coldwater predator (Esox Lucius)

Hi all, I've recently joined, and in my welcome post I mentioned that after ~20 years I'm ready to get back into fishkeeping. Nowadays the tech and knowledge is so much more robust and comprehensive, I wondered if anyone had particular recommendations for filtration equipment and so on that is...

Hello from East London - coldwater native fish enthusiast

Hi all, thanks for the welcome and replies. Yep, pike are legally available here. Although they don't grow as big as their brothers across the pond - especially muskellunge! But yes, they do grow immense here all the same. Releasing them in the wild is illegal, however, and would be a death...

Hello from East London - coldwater native fish enthusiast

Hello, After keeping fish for 10 years, I've had a hiatus for about 15 as I moved to London from Bournemouth and couldn't really get round to keeping fish again. I used to keep native fish in very large species/environment tanks: single pike (esox lucius) in a 400L tank (8" fish) 6 perch...
