I've never had to battle that - I found my carp and tench grew much quicker in warm water although that might be an imprecise assumption - although funnily enough I have been looking at cooling methods.

I think it may be that they're seen as pests in some areas. When I was a kid, I used to fish a tiny lake which was essentially full of tiny roach and jacks.
