    The new shrimp tank

substrate is sand with black sand on top. I had the normal sand down first and found they were camouflaging to blend in and their colours were dulling so added the darker sand to help bring back their colours, which it did within hours! I have neo’s and caridina’s in the tank. I’ll add some...

what are these spots on my corydora? what is the best course of action to cure him of whatever these white spots are (fungus?)?

I’ve always done the low rate as Colin has suggested and never had a problem @Deanasue but hey if you suggest 1 table spoon then lets go with that.

what are these spots on my corydora? what is the best course of action to cure him of whatever these white spots are (fungus?)?

Do a 75% water change and add salt. Don’t use chemicals if you don’t have too. Because you have cories you will need to do the low dose rate which is 2 heap tablespoons per 5 G (20 litres) of aquarium Salt, pool salt for 2 weeks. You will need to water change daily to keep the water clean...

what are these spots on my corydora? what is the best course of action to cure him of whatever these white spots are (fungus?)?

Looks to be a bit fungal or excess mucus. If it was columnaris you would know about it as the rest would have it and not just him? What are your water parameters?

    Shrimp colour mutation??

I agree with @seangee here. Could definitely be a throw back from past generations. In saying that, just because you have orange throws now and say you separate and breed it doesn’t mean you will get orange. Red is the dominant colour here which means they can and will produce more reds then...

Well while you were away Colin, about a month ago I had a columnaris outbreak in the tank. I ended up using a high dose of salt, reduced heat temperature and a course of tri sulfa. Nothing new has been added and I’ve only noticed him doing it a few days but I never really took any notice...
