    External Filters

Whtat kind of tank have you got exactly? You might have trouble running both the built-in internal and the external filter, on mine, the Rekord 96, the gap in the hood where the pipes for the filter went were right above the built-in filter, so I had to take one out before I could install the...

    External Filters

Yeah, all the replacement media should be available there, you'll want to read up about transferring media from your current filter to your new one though, otherwise you'll have no bacteria to process fish waste.

    External Filters

If you mean the large built-in filter in the corner, I got mine out with a long-blade stanley knife. There's perhaps four blobs of silicone holding it on, you'll have to cut through those then pry the filter off, but be extremely careful not to go too far and cut the silicone holding the corner...

    External Filters

Well, first, 'priming' a filter is the action of filling the canister and in-out tubing with water prior to turning the unit on, so that when the impellor kicks in it's not just sucking on air and damaging itself. Most filters have a self-priming or easy-priming method, the Tetratec for example...

    Concerning Moving All My Fish.

Well the way you suggested does sound like it would work, like I say the actual amount of fish will not increase (not for a long time anyway) so the actual load on the Tetra shouldn't be much different, and from the minute I turn it on, the 205 will be maturing as well, but yes, I'll see if...

    Concerning Moving All My Fish.

Bingo, that sounds a whole lot easier. I was just a little concerned that the Tetratec wouldn't be able to deal with working alongside an un-matured filter, but if you think that'd work then it's worth a shot. Not meaning to be picky, but when you say take half the water from the old tank, do...

    Concerning Moving All My Fish.

Hi there yet again people, I expect this might be quite a long-winded question so if you read it all then thank you for your patience, I'll try my best to break the whole situation down into stages as best as I can, this way it should be easier to read and if anyone wishes to point out an issue...

    Changing Filter In Venezia Tank.

Yeah I'm considering doing a journal of the tank but I'm away from home most of the time, soif not I'll make sure to get plenty up anyway when it's all done. Cheers! :)

Co² Diffuser - Filling With Water ?

Are you referring to the unit you actually put into the tankwater? In that case I'm pretty sure it should fill with water as this is the unit that brings the bubbles of Co2 into contact with, and therefore distributes into, the water.

    Changing Filter In Venezia Tank.

Hmm, bummer. I was couting on the under-tank filter to avoid having the pipes over the back of the tank as I'm not having a backing on, perhaps I could get an internal filter just to boost filtration, then again maybe the 205 will be adequate anyway lol. Could you just explain what the...

    Changing Filter In Venezia Tank.

Hey, me again. I'm getting the Fluval Venezia 190 soon, but I fancied seeing if my LFS would swap the 205 that comes with for a 305, as I plan to have the tank quite well-stocked, and just feel the more filtration the better. However, with the under-tank filter system, would this cause any...

    My Sterlet Is, Well, Bent.

Okido thanks, just wondered if anything special wanted doing as it's our first winter with the sterlet, I'll also keep an eye on his bend and if anything develops I'll inform. Many thanks!

    My Sterlet Is, Well, Bent.

We just feed him Tetra Sterlet sinking sticks, most of the other fish nobble it on the way down, but we make sure he gets plenty for himself, I just don't want to overfeed and make the food rot down and mess the pond up. I'll keep an eye on him for now, see how he goes. P.S. - What about over...

    My Sterlet Is, Well, Bent.

Apologies, I've been unable to get on as of late. The pond we have is about six long, four wide and three deep (feet), the sterlet itself is only about ten inches long and we've not had him long, maybe two months. I gave him a once-over and he seems totally normal apart from the bend, none of...

Ok People, Venezia 190 Or Roma 240.

Sounds good, had no idea they could be blocked up instead, thanks. Anyone else with any experiences with the Venezias fancy adding their two pence? Cheers.

    My Sterlet Is, Well, Bent.

So we have a Diamond Sterlet in our pond, and recently I've noticed he seems to always be bent about halfway down his body, always to the same side. He holds himself like this when he swims as well, and he bends from a different place to move in the water so I don't think he's just doing it for...

Ok People, Venezia 190 Or Roma 240.

Aha, I also have thre Julii Cory as well, and I'm looking for some Garra to go with the current stock. I think the 190 might be the way to go, as either way the volume is still twice what it is at the moment at least, but the greater back-front depth seems to add more interest to me. I'll hang...

    It Has Begun!

I was under the impression that fish-in cycles were extremely tough on the fish, I'd hazard a guess at massive daily water changes to keep the toxin levels in the water down, but I'm not entirely sure as I've never done this before, you might find it more hassle and problems (especially for the...

Ok People, Venezia 190 Or Roma 240.

Dimensions: 98cm L x 70cm W x 130cm H for the 190. (That's 70cm back corner to front, 98 cm between each far corner) and 120cm long x 40cm wide x 50cm high for the 240. I have at least these fish for sure thus far: 2 Clown Loaches, 2 Gold Gouramis, 2 Pearl Gouramis, 1 Clown Plec, 1 Common...

Ok People, Venezia 190 Or Roma 240.

As title says really. I've narrowed my new tank down to these two, but I'm stuck now. Each has pros and cons to me, for example: 190 - Looks great, will fit ideally in my dining room, T5 lighting, no filter piping over back of tank, greater 'depth' throughout the tank, i.e. front to back...

    Trigon 190

I'm looking at getting the Fluval version of this tank, the Venezia, but I heard that the bow-front can lead to distortions in the view of the insides, although looking at the pictures this seems wrong, do you ever seem to suffer this problem Bricko?

    Quick Question About Fluval Lids.

Do they come with that wood-effect stuck-on decal that goes around the edge straight from the box or do you put that on yourself afterwards? It's not much but actually enough to put me off buying one as I found it looked a bit cheap, perhaps it was just put on badly in the shop, but I'd rather...

    Chlorine In Tap Water.

I heard storing it for 24 hours dissipates the chlorine, but I've never actually done it myself so don't take that as true. In fact it'd be interesting to know if that's right or wrong from someone on here.

Looking To Get A New Tank.

I might fo for the 240 then, it's also about eighty pounds cheaper. I won't be growing any particularly specialist plants, just some good-looking basics, hopefully with this new setup I'll have more luck than I have in the past. I never actually thought that the bow-front might distort the...

Looking To Get A New Tank.

Hey, me again. I'm looking, as the title may have told you, for a new tank, specifically one in which to grow plants, I've narrowed it down to two tanks; the Fluval Roma 240 or the Fluval Venezia 190. Now, this is the thing, the larger 240 has two 40W T-8 bars (one of each 40watt PowerGlo &...

    Luminare/i-bar Question.

Cheers I'll keep a look out for some of that then, I just might be making caves and stuff rather than having plants if they die off, as always. Thus I don't want them falling over so need some way to fix them. Thanks. :)

    Luminare/i-bar Question.

It looks like I might be getting a new tank after all, decided to go more for rockery and sand than plants, although might get a T-5 tank just in case I change my mind. Does anyone here know off the top of their head if the Fluval Roma 125 comes with T-5 lights as standard? Thanks for the...

    Luminare/i-bar Question.

Me again, was looking at trying to get some T5s installed in my tank, but without spending too much, saw this I-bar converter thing, was wondering if I could install this in the hood of my Rekord 96 tank, the Monolux 80 I believe, and if so, how hard it could be. Cheers.

    External Filter Piping Browning Up.

Sweet, I shall try that. Any ideas about stopping it from coming back though? The over-tank shoulder connector things are a pain to clean.

    External Filter Piping Browning Up.

If I recall, I have inquired about this problem on here before, yet the issues has not gone away. Ever since getting my Tetratec EX600, the piping to and from the filter canister, and the rigid plastic 'shoulder' units (as I call them) that hang over the back of the tank connecting the...

    Liquid Fertiliser.

So it seems the better option would be a whole new lighting unit? Egh, that'd cut into my savings a bit. I'm planning on getting a new tank in the near future, so maybe it'd be best just to last it out with what I have and wait for a new tank before I sort out all the lighting systems? My hood...

    Liquid Fertiliser.

The hood of my tank is pretty much designed for only one bulb, so it seems I'd be better off replacing it, unless I try and save up for a new hood. When it comes to increasing the WPG then, it seems the bulbs I look at increase in length as the wattage goes up, or is it possible to get higher...

    Liquid Fertiliser.

Ok I got the box that the bulb came in, it's a 20W, 18,000K rating and 55 Lux T-8 tube. It actually says it's 'designed' to help plants grow better, but I bought it a while ago for the fact it emphasises the colouring of the fish.

    Liquid Fertiliser.

Could you remind me how to work out the light level again please? I recall it being something like lux and.. volume or something? Or is it just the wattage you want? (I'm such a noob :P) My tank's 96 litres and 81 wide, 31 deep and 46cm tall, but I can't find out my bulb's specifics until...

    Liquid Fertiliser.

I had checked out my LFS for Florena having heard of it before, however they don't stock it and nor do any UK-based websites that offer free delivery (Not meaning to sound tight but delivery can be up to five quid from some, and buying more just seems to push the price up) Or do you know of any...

    Liquid Fertiliser.

Sorry if it's been asked before/frequently, but I was looking for tips on what the best type of liquid/tablet fertiliser is for my plants. I started off without any plants ages ago but have added them over time and recently got a CO2 kit, but have no specific fertilising substrate for my plants...

Got A New 220 Gallon Tank!

Oh my giddy Aunt, that tank is huge. I like the look so far, sand, rocks, and plain background, I dunno, it's elegant and simple, love it.
