    Aquarium Rocks

Hello everyone, I was just wondering if the acid test is basically a pass/fail type test or if it only works if calcium is present? So basically, I want to know "if a rock passes the acid test (white vinegar), does that mean it will not change the water chemistry at all?" Thanks for any help!

    Forest Wood

Hello, Has anyone ever transferred wood from a forest into their tank? I was at my LFS today and told them that I was thinking about doing it and wanted to know if they had any suggestions. They told me it was a horrible idea and that I shouldn't even think about doing it. But I didn't know if...

    Where To Put Spray Bar?

Thanks for the replies everyone! I think I will just place it about an inch below the surface and point it upwards as suggested. Thanks again everyone

    Where To Put Spray Bar?

Hi everyone, I just quick question about the new Cascade 700 canister filter I bought. It came with a spray bar and I was wondering whether or not the spray bar had to break the surface tension to create oxygen? Or if I can just put it below the water line so I don't have to hear the...

    Breeding My Rams.

Hello there, I am also looking to try and breed some rams; although I don't have the money to get my tank the way I'd like it right now. But anyways, here is a website that I plan on using once I have my tank set up and I get my rams to spawn. It looks like a great idea and seems like the...

    Sex My Ram Please ?

I am going to vote male on this one. Although the picture is blurry I do not see any sign of a pink belly. I also think that the anal fin looks pointed and looks a little extended. Any other guesses?

    Ram Pair

Hello there. If I had to make a suggestion I would go with two females. The reason for this is because I have heard that males tend to be the more aggressive gender of the cichlids. But I would see what everyone else has to say about this first.

    Ro Water

I have also heard of driftwood helping lower pH in a tank, as well as using peat moss. I have not actually used either of these methods to see if they work, but it is worth a try if you don't want to put all the money into using RO water.

    Blue Rams Stocking Idea

Hey Matt, I just wanted to comment on putting Rams together with Kribensis. I have two Rams in my tank with the Kribensis right now and the Kribensis have taken over the bottom of my tank (I have a 55 gallon). Which means that the Rams are forced to the upper half of the tank. There is enough...

    Hmmmm Problem

Hey I am no expert, but looking at the anal fins I think that you have the gender roles reversed. I think that your male is actually a female (rounded anal fin). And the your female is the male (longer, pointed anal fin). Don't mark my words on this though!

    Ro Water- What To Add?

Thanks for the reply! When I had my water tested last week they told me that it took 12 drops (which I would assume is a kh of 12?)...being that it said that the Rams would need soft water, would you be able to offer advice on how to lower this? Thanks for the input!

    Ro Water- What To Add?

So by using R.O. water, will it lower the hardness of the water in the tank as well? As of right now my water is on the rather hard side and I am looking at focusing my tank on Rams and I was wondering how to lower the hardness of the water? My pH is at around 7 right now. Thanks for any help!

    German Blue Rams With Kribensis?

Thanks for the help everyone! So the clown loaches and the BGK are going to outgrow my 55 gallon? So getting them out should be my first move. From there, I don't know if I want to get rid of the Rams or Kribs yet but I should really make up my mind. Ripley, you said that if I kept the Kribs you...

    German Blue Rams With Kribensis?

Yes, there is enough hiding places for everyone. I did try and rearrange the bottom, but with no success as it is still claimed by the kribs. It looks like I am going to have to get rid of one or the other, as I don't want fish to be harrassed for no reason. Does anyone have any suggestions on...

    German Blue Rams With Kribensis?

Hello Everyone, As of right now I have a 55 gallon tank that is housing 3 German Blue Rams, 2 Kribensis, 4 Clown Loaches, and a Black Ghost Knife. I got the Kribensis about a month ago, and I was assured by the local fish store owner that Kribensis would peacefully coexist with my German Blue...
