Ive painted tanks with all sorts ! Water based, such as emulsion balls up due to surface tension... but any old gloss should do the job :good: Make sure the glass is clean and DRY (I use a hair dryer to make sure) then just slop it on - do a few coats in different directions and it WILL look...

Get a reflector if you don't already have one, then try another tube - they are all different colours, you may need to try a few before you get one YOU like :blush: If you have plants - make sure its a plant friendly tube...

Google for how to fit window tints to a car.... all you need is some wetting agent, TINY amount of oil, or water/washing up liquid, and a squeegee. Smooth the film on from the CENTRE outwards with the squeegee (or credit card etc - but be careful as these may scratch/tear/stretch the film)...

The UV LEDS on sale are safe to use (re the eyes... they are the wrong wavelength to cause damage, well - to be fair ANY bright light source WILL damage eyes, but you get the gist !) A UV light source requires a fluorescent surface to "excite" , as most tanks contain nothing that fluoresces...

Its an "overflow" thing.... doesn't matter if you are adding a drop at a time, as the main tank is only allowed to overflow beyond a set level, only a drop will "leave" ! Its a difficult thing to visualise, but once the penny drops you will wonder what all the fuss was about ! Have a read of...

Are you SURE you need more than one to do the job ? If so, then just add them in series... IN ONE OUTLET !

The inlet path is NEVER in free-fall ! It can only ever drain to a certain level, then it stops.... Imagine an overflowing glass in the sink, as long as the tap is adding water it will overflow - once the tap is OFF, the glass remains full, but the flow stops... its the same with an overflow...

Whenever my 2234 plays up - its nearly always trapped air.... a few shakes usually sorts it ! (maybe the inlet is drawing in air ?) or its being operated "handle down" ?

Airline plugs into (or rather OVER) the little pipe show in the picture bottom/left. The air "inlet" will probablly be at the rear.... most likely there will be a small filter pad.

Only when damaged or degraded !!!!! Bit of string + bit of rag :blush: (called a "pull through" !) shifts all grime.

Is this: a dry product ? liquid ? How much is supplied ? What dosage do you use ? How is it delivered ? Its all a bit of a mystery :blush:

A sump is the easiest option IMHO, and has to be installed before water hit the main tank ! There are a lot of threads on this, as well as numerous websites.. you CAN use a bog standard "filter", but the benefits of a sump far outweigh the inconvenience.... :nod: But obviously this is...

"Algae eaters" do NOT clear algae ! You could have 100 in there, and STILL have an "algae problem" :-( Yes, they eat it - but theres simply too much for them to remove it all... They will graze anywhere - doesnt need to be the glass, so YES clean the glass.

Most welding shops will have ones to fit disposable welding cylinders - this is what I use, but make SURE you get ONLY CO2 as theres a few other mixes ! A LOT sight cheaper than fish shops ! :good:

Dont even THINK about a magnetic cleaner if you have sand :no: The tank will attract scratches :-(

If you are on floorboards, I would be tempted to use something a bit more manly than hardboard ! Maybe slate to spread the weight, and level the stand TOTALLY before putting the tank on !

Heater doesn't "need" to be upright... so you could fit a larger one in ! :blush:

I use APS all the time, there is NO clouding whatsoever - provided you wash it.... Please dont dismiss it on spec :grr: All I do is fill half a bucket with sand, run a hose pipe out the kitchen window and let it run for half an hour... sand sinks straight to the bottom of the tank as would...
