hi, i also keep mbuna & have a juwel aquarium with a built-in internal... Arnt they big and ugly !! :sick: My tank is 190litre, & at the moment has the internal running (which does 600lph) along with a fluval3+ internal (which does a 700lph). so in all its doing 1300lph and turning over...

you mean internal, lol ??? yea, ive just ordered a Tetratec ex1200 earlier. i'll be installing that and ripping out (carefully, lol) the built-in internal. So ill have the ex1200 and a fluval3+ internal running, which ill be replacing that (fluval3+) with another external at a later date...

well, i use baking soda to raise the KH and keep my PH of 8.3 stable when needed, i just happened to do a KH liquid test yesterday, you know were you keep adding a drop till it changes colour?, i must have add about 54 drops before i saw any change in colour !! so im wondering wether too high of...

is it possible to have your KH too high for malawi's ??? EDIT : also, i just thought, how high levels of nirate will malawi's tolerate ?

im not sure, maybe its some kind of Labeotropheus trewavasae ? or even some sort of hybrid. it only looks young though. you may have to wait for it to grow and develop its colours properly for a more accurate ID.

yea, it looks like a kenyi ( metriaclima lombardoi ) to me. i have a cppl of female's too. i want a male but not till i get my bigger tank. they are really aggressive !! some people suggest keeping them in no smaller than a 75gal.

i read somewere to wait 24h before feeding after adding new arrivals. i sometimes do, sometimes dont depending on how they're getting on.

Fishkies - ammonia & nitrite reading is 0 and has been for ages now, nitrate is 10, high gh&kh, ph 8.2. i do a 25%water change every 4th day. been set-up for nearly 5 mths now. thanks for that Wilder, ill leave it then see how it goes.
