The main causes of this are build ups of ammonia/fish waste in an area. What is the filtration like in your tank? I had a dead spot where a piece of wood was blocking the flow to one corner of my tank. I removed the wood and the BGA went away. Aaron

Hi Evad One of the main causes of algae is unstable CO2 - so by getting a decent stable C02 system running the algae is less likely to be triggered. However CO2 is not a miracle cure and it wont just dissapear. Really you need to get the CO2 stable, remove all of the algae and it shouldn't...

Hi Maximinius How large is your tank? It all depends on the size. I have a 30 gallon and use one nutrafin kit with an additional 500ml pop bottle plumbed in and it works ok I don't use the nutrafin yeast stuff - its crap. I use Allinsons yeast and mix it with sugar and water. Cheers Aaron

Hey The main reason people tend to avoid that technique is because of the noise air bubbles make when they are fed into the impellor The more specialised equipment ensures better Co2 diffusion - requiring less co2 to achieve the desired PPM Cheers Aaron

I have my Maracyn now but the BGA is going away without it - have upped ferts and am sticking to the regime which I think is key. I have also sorted the flow issues out - I think the power head was badly placed and a large plant was blocking the flow to that end of the tank Aaron
