    Bouyancy Issues

That was it, I fed him a pea a few hours ago and now he's happily swimming around like normal again. Thanks for the help.

    Swim Bladder Issue

It seems my betta cannot make himself neutrally bouyant. I've noticed him try to swim down, but he struggles and then just floats backwards to the top, quite rapidly. Any ideas what could be causing this?

    Bouyancy Issues

I've recently noticed that my betta, Freddie, cannot seem to get neutrally bouyant. He swims down but instantly floats back up. I thought it might be something with his tank water, but the same thing happened in another tank. Any ideas what could be causing this?

    Injured Betta

I've given up on having tankmates with my betta. Last night he was roughed up pretty badly. There's a split in his main tail and a chuck missing from his dorsal fin. He's back in his own tank, what can I do for him to help regrow his fins?

    Filtration Question

Well, after arresting the current with a clean sponge and some tape, 24 hours later the tetra still seems content and Freddy has started building a bubblenest, shame it'll prolly get destroyed when I do a water change tonight. On a side note, I stopped by the LFS today for an API kit and a...

    Filtration Question

I've been mulling around the idea of just getting him his own tank. Not sure if I'd filter it or not. I actually have another 10 gallon housing a hermit crab, but I may find somewhere else for him to live and repurpose the tank for the betta. I'd just really like to have more tetras in that tank...

    Filtration Question

It's 10 gallons. I'm not really sure what gasping would look like, but I might. One of the tetras that died seem to always be rapidly opening and shutting his mouth. Is that it? If I left the cover off the filter (it's a hang-on) would that help with aeration?

    Filtration Question

So I'm assuming a fish in cycle would be a bad time to try this then. edit: I guess it's kinda a silly thing to do either way, as the betta isn't gonna get much chance at building a nest with daily water changes.

    Filtration Question

As some of you may know, I've been stuck with a tetra and a beta in the same tank. I've attempted to arrest he current to make the betta happy, but will this affect aeration and be detrimental to the tetra?

    Co-habitation Problems.

I've read a bit on the betta forums and I thought about using something to obstruct the currents, but is that something I should not be worried about right now? Also in the future would doing something like that be detrimental to the others, like cause a lack of aeration or anything? Edit: I...

    Co-habitation Problems.

Cool, thanks for the tips. One last question. I can't really get my tank temperature down below about 84-85 degrees as my current residence (only 2 more weeks) only has window units. Is this too hot? There's an ac nearby I could turn on, but that'd be kinda expensive to leave on all the time. As...

    Co-habitation Problems.

Okay, so after spending all night reading stuff on these forums, my friend and I decided that I would take the tank, as I doubt he would keep up with its needs. So I'm presented with this, a 10 gallon tank housing one betta and two tetras. I assume it is uncycled, as he had no clue what cycling...

    Co-habitation Problems.

Edit: The injured tetra died. Not really sure what to do with the other three. They look uninjured and are getting along around the bottom. Any thoughts?

    Co-habitation Problems.

Hello, I'm really not a fish hobbyist per se, as I don't really have the money or time to be serious about it, but a friend of mine is trying at it. He's has a B. Splendens for a while now, and recently the local pet store told him it wouldn't be a problem to add some tetras to his tank. It's 10...
