    Glass surfing

Thanks. Definitely seems to be intermittent, but I'll keep an eye on it. Wish I was better at telling the fish apart in case it seems to be just one that's having problems, which is what I fear. I worry I have an anxious fishy!

    Glass surfing

Thanks, that's good to know. I haven't seen it doing it again, so hopefully whatever set it off the other night won't happen again.

    Glass surfing

Hi there, I've got a small 60l tank with 6 glowlight tetras in it (also a few neocaridina shrimp). For the past half hour, one of the tetras has been glass surfing. The others are totally fine and their normal, chilled out selves. I've checked the water parameters and nothing seems to be amiss...

    Hello!

Well, I am full of blethers! I am so thrilled with my award. Thank you! The tank arrives later this week. Totally got into this by accident. Had an unfortunate episode last month, where I adopted some lovely pet rats. I'd had pet rats as a kid and loved them. But discovered after 1 night...

    Hello!

Aww, I hope so. They're cracking wee fish! Little humming birds for my underwater garden.

    Hello!

Yes, I think there is a good stockist nearby, although currently outside my Covid area! But hopefully in the new year (mid Jan/early Feb) I can order some in/check they have them and pop out to get them.

    Hello!

All the terminology is new to me, but this sounds like what I think I'm planning! I'm so excited to get started, but doing it bit by bit and getting the plants in and established, and making sure the water is right feels like a good way to go. Good tip on the progress photos. I'll probably be...

    Hello!

Famed for our lovely water! No limescale on our kettles!

    Hello!

Ah, that's brilliant! I really appreciate you looking that info out for me. And the Boraras look incredible! I think they're a winner. My tank is 38x38x43 (60l). Would they be happy enough in that, or do they do better in a longer tank?

    Hello!

I have found my reservoir report, but I'm struggling to read what the general hardness and carbonate hardness would be. Looks like a pH of around 8, so I may need something to bring that down. I have a friend who works at Scottish Water. I'll be bugging him for information!

    Hello!

Yes, I think I might even be more excited about the plants than the fish. I love in a small to floor flat and never use our communal garden. I've got some healthy house plants though. This feels like a nice new project. For ongoing testing of the water, what would you recommend? I bought the...

    Hello!

Thanks! I have lots of half ideas but nothing set at all. I'm not really in a rush to introduce fish - I'm just as excited about the aquascaping. I feel like I want to get that right and make sure everything is thriving and my water is good before starting. What would you put in a 60l nano cube?

    Hello!

That's excellent, thanks. I've not set anything up yet. I spent yesterday doing the acid test on a bunch of rocks and scrubbing and boiling them (controversial, but they didn't explode!) I was actually thinking of leaving the rocks in a separate bowl and testing the water to make sure none of...

    Hello!

Hi folks, I'm brand new to the world of aquariums (aquaria?) and really excited to get started. I've read a lot and watched a lot of videos. I love how it is a combination of science, gardening, pet care, mindfulness and interior decor. Where has this been all my life?! I've read all about...
