If I ever see a tankbuster in an aquatic store on general sale then I never go back to it. Tankbusters shouldn't be sold except if they are on special order. Until the sale of such fish becomes restricted the only thing we can do is educate people.

Unfortutunately no, I obtained the tank from a local garden centre but the guy behind the desk said the tank arrived at the store with no hood. Instead I used a small Arcadia Arc pod for lighting. However the hoods are very cheap (usually around £2-3).

I would recommend investing in your own test kit, which should cost between £20-£30. You will need to leave your tank for a few weeks before you can begin adding fish. How big is your tank?

Yes it will still show the algae but it won't be so evident on the rocks. :)

The coral sand should be sufficient to raise the pH and you can adjust the amount depending on the pH of your tapwater. As for rocks it depends on what you want, for example a bag of river cobbles should cost around £10-£15. Try here.

If this was in the UK they would be prosecuted for dumping tropical fish into UK waterways, if they were caught that is.
