Look what I brought home last night!! Finally I have piggies back in my life, I'm loving it already!
He is about 1 year old and very sweet (at least he is now - I'm about to clip his seriously overgrown claws so that might change!!)
The previous owners called him Shadow and we have decided to keep the name as it does suit him.
I've only had Abys' and Shelties before so this a new breed for me which is quite exciting.
Anyway, here is the gorgeous little lad!!

Oh my how did I miss this picture. That little fellow is beautiful POTM for him. I know he will get a second nomination... Good luck,,,, :hey: :D

Oh hes a cutie. I have 4 piggies one of which is a coronet which is a long haired crested. The only problem with black piggies is cutting their nails as the quick is impossible to see. I also have a rex an abby and a texel x . guineas are great

Thank you all for your nice comments.
We managed to clip his claws without any bleeding, although you're right emma it is much harder with black claws!
I'm not sure if he has had it done before as he was quite freaked out but we used towels to cover him and bribed him with cucumber. The claws are still overgrown but we will have to do it little by little so as not to hurt him. We are getting some more in January/February but not sure which breed yet - would love a teddy though!

He is settling in well. He has learnt the various noises of the household, the opening of the fridge door is met with lots of excited squeaking although he isn't even in the same room!!

Emma, I'd love to see some pictures of your guineas, I absolutely adore all piggies and I can never see to many pics of the cute little things.

Hi,

Since you live in Scotland have you heard of http://thistlecavies.tripod.com/ it's based in Perth. Wendy who runs the place is lovely and so helpful. I plan on a trip up there for any future piggies i get. She has loads in at the minute but won't be rehoming until after xmas.

I plan to get pics of mine with their cuddle cups that they will be getting for xmas. So i'll post some after xmas.

Thank you again for all the great comments.

The centre in perth looks great. We won't be taking on any more piggies just yet though as we are in the process of adopting a dog!

We also need to build a proper guinea pig enclosure and get more cages etc before we go mad! I only ended up with this one as it was advertised free in the paper, with the cage free as well. I had visions of some unruly child getting it as a christmas present and it being forgotten about by new year. Probably unfair I know but I couldn't take the chance!!!

But to be fair I adore him and am totally chuffed he came to me!

This might sound really mean but i hate guinea pigs with a passion, the first time i help a guinea pig it bit me then i panicked and droppe dit on the floor, i broke several of it's rib's and it died that night, I haven't picked one up since
