Am I Doing Everything Right? Tips?

i came home this evening to find my poor little betta with one gill sticking out all funny, after digging around the web i found it was 99% sure gill flukes.

i have now gutted his tank (he was on his own in a reasonably bare 4 gallon acrylic) and given him a pinch of aquarium salt.

now is it a waiting game? how often do i need to keep up water changes now? everyday? (it was every 3-4 days) any other medications i could try? i was on melafix because he's knawed his own tail. never-ending with this fishy!

Keep an eye on water quality by testing your water, gill flukes are not easy to get rid of.

i do 100% water changes every few days anyway (unfiltered tank)
i'll just be even more obsessively clean.
