I just got a user name on aquabid, so now I'm scrolling it for bettas and such.
I like the idea of breeding, but since everyone else is, it seems to take a little bit of the charm out of it.
Although, it sounds like fun.
So....Yeah. I've been looking for a nice betta couple on aquabid, but I wanna buy from the same seller(So I can do one of those shipping deals), and I want it to be as cheap as possible.
I was wondering what type of betta best suits my criteria(sp)? I don't want something extravagent, I just want a perfectly normal-looking betta. Although I don't want a VT. I like plakats, but not their prices.
And whats a money order?
Does this pair look any good?

Thats all I've found on aquabid thats a pair. I might need to buy individual ones, but ok. I just need a good price. I also don't like light yellow/white.
Thats whats in my price range.

how about this one

What about it? I thought you and OA were breeding it? Was it just a dumb remark?
Edit: Whats a money order???

no its not a dumb remark how much are you willing to pay for it???????????????hmmmm $20.00 or maybe $30.00

a money order is a piece of paper that you mail instead of cash. You go to the post office or bank, ask for a money order of what ever amount you need - you pay a small handling charge and you recieve a piece of paper that you mail to the seller.

TigerMan - isn't that a dt veil?

he might be but i think he's just a dt.
ethos how about this guy he's my new one dose $20.00 sound's fair???

I'm thinking about going to HarMar, they have males/females in everything!
I'm currently doing research on breeding, it intrests me. If I find a nice pair at HarMar, I needn't go on aquabid.

And where di you purchase that betta? I figure if your so willing to sell it, you got it cheaper somewhere else.

Of the three, the cambo pair looks the best. They look healthiest. They are also the most expensive. The copper pair looks odd to me. The male's back looks crooked, could be camera, could be really crooked, a risk I wouldn't take. There is also black along the edge of his ventral. If it were darker, I would think coloring, but it is washed out, which could indicate finrot. The double tail male's lobes are unequal and unappealing. His ventrals also looked messed up. The coloring is also rather poor.

I have never bred bettas, but these are just casual observations. A breeding pair should be very healthy, especially coming from aquabid. If you are serious about breeding, the stock you get has to be pretty good, or else you'll end up with fry with genetic defects. It might be worth your while to wait until you can afford a pair that has a bit more to offer.

If I were to choose a pair, it would be the cambos. But I'd save a little more and hold out for a better pair. Passing the $25 barrier can give you so much more.

Whoot!!!
I'm going to buy the cambos if the price doesn't escalate. I'm pretty excited, although I shouldn't be. I know that usually the biggest bids are placed during the last few minutes. I need to keep my eye on this sale!
I got the OK from my dad...As long as I pay for it. He doesn't want to give out his credit card info unless he's sure I'll get it.

Another method you could use to find a good deal is look for a cheap male you really like and ask the seller if they have sibling females available. A lot of times they do and just don't post them as a pair ;)

Its certianly an Idea. I don't have enough time now, I don't want to miss this sale!
I'll browse for a few minutes.

Don't tell anyone I said this....but neither would I.
I think he got it somehwere local, and that usually means $7-$12.

That's a great idea Synirr, I didn't think of that.
