Co2 Leaked Into Tank

what can i do? only a little bit has gone in and i have done 50% water change.

it leaked as i put check valve wrong bloody way!

will my fish die?

Put some new black carbon in and run an airstone.

is that all i can do? i added too much yeast to the mix anfd it went into tank.

water look very murky..... i did 50% water change but it looks awful.

i really dont want anything to die!

will water take long to clear?

Put alot of new filter floss in as well then remove it in a couple of hours and replace it with some more, how are the fish acting, get some kitchen paper and let it float up the mess on the tank surface.

fish seem ok.... some are breathing a bit heavy....

im so bloody stupid, i cant get this co2 mix right the whole thing is just getting messed up.....

will the co2 leaking cause much harm to the fish? it was a small ammount that leaked but water looks cloudy

Do another water change if the fish are heavy breathing, do you have an airstone for extra aeration.

i can add an air stone, will that help?

what sort of co2 mix do you recommend using?

Don't no sorry never used it, i would add an airstone it will help clear the tank, and help with aeration with the fish.

Just how much sugar got into the tank? If the fish are gasping, you'll have to do another 50% water changes. BTW, you did put in the check valve in right direction. The check valve was meant to protect the source of co2 from water backing into it. It wasn't design to protect the fish. So don't put it in wrong way, as it may cause the co2 bottle to explode!

Without sugar, the yeast will quickly die off. Most of it should collect on the bottom of the tank, so vacuum it up as you do your water changes. The dieing yeast WILL foul the water quickly and continuously though until you get it all out or it dies off completely. To prevent this in the future construct a sizeable bubble counter. An unused gravel siphon would be ideal, or you could use a 2nd 2L pop bottle. This will provide the necessary space for the foamy mass should your CO2 mixture expand beyond the bottle. If you should have another accident, the yeasty stuff will enter the counter, but not exit it. You can make the bubble counter as big as you want. The inside "air" space will fill with CO2. The bigger you make it, the more safety margin you have. Simply swap out a fresh mixture bottle without removing any of the other hoses.
