Well, I'm typing away, checking the forum, and stuff, and I hear this noise coming from Hunding's bowl. Like gravel moving, and I'm asking what is he doing? So I take a peak. Well the picture below speaks for itself. Sorry the picture is from the crappy camera phone, but the snail is that lighter piece near his mouth.

I kid you not. The noise I was hearing was Hunding bumping around the bowl, crushing this snail into bits and then sucking it off the shell. Then he spends 10 minutes flaring at absolutely nothing. Like a victory dance! Now I knew he killed snails as the snail population in my 15g while he occupied it dropped by quite a bit. But, to see him in action was pretty darn cool. I have a feeling this violent little man will be given the occasional snail to further develop these skills. Afterall, a little entertainment is always nice.

My girlfriend has a massive female crowntail (named Kichi) who does that. I mean massive, she scares my plakats half to death. Her sister, Bea was the same and when one plakat jumped into her tank awhile back, well she showed him who wears the pants in the family. Remember that day, when I was feeding the fish, and noticed one empy tank. Though he had jumped out and died. Instead I saw him cowering under the plants in Bea's tank.

Anyway, back to Kichi the snail killer. She tips the over and sucks them out :sly:

And when that does not work she flings them and bangs them unto the tank glass :grr:

Warning, that girl got popeye after that. Been almost 9 months and it has not healed, but she has not lost the eye either.

Oh, by the way. If I had a fish like that... I would give him a reward tonight. Some special food.

Hmmm, maybe my Hunding's man enough :flex: for Kichi. He's pretty big, nearly three inches and pretty thick. He's my largest, bodywise.

Hahaha, nice. Looks like I accidentally bred savage killer bettas!

Nope, this one's not one of yours, though they probably could. Hunding's the one I found in the all girl's tank at the LFS. If one of your boys grew to 3 inches, I'd be worried. Especially in the course of two days.

If Rudy eats my scarlet dario dario gals, I will be seriously disappointed. Maybe I better put him with the bigger cories.

Oh yes! An unlucky snail will be removed from the 15g tonight. :hey: Offered as a sacrifice to the plakat mohr God Hunding the Mighty!. It'll be like King Kong, but with snails and bettas. It will have died a noble, sniff, noble death for the greater good :-( :rip: :byebye:

Mines did that once and reminded me of 'Deep Blue Sea' when that shark grabs the stretcher by his mouth and smacks against the glass window

Ooooh yeah, I remember Hunding now. He looks so much like some of mine I got confused -_-
RIP snails!

LOL! I have a male that kills them too. The small ramshorns, which annoyed me because I paid for those! He grabs them and shakes his head between the thermometer and the tank wall, which shatters the shell.
