Since yesterday my Discus fish and some neons are breathing from the top of the tank and breathing quite heavily. Maybe it's because I've been treating the tank for Fungus, but I know I have not overdosed them.

Did around 40 - 50% water change today, no treatment since.

Got bubbles on.

Water Temp is 25.8 - 26.5

Did all the tests in my test kit, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, PH ect... And all are fine.

:eek:sama: :dunno:

What size tank is it? Please post test results. Because what seems normal to you may be bad to other people.

Agreed

And when you say "Got bubbles on" what does that mean? An airstone, some kind of filter venturi, or something else?

Also, what type of filtration do you use? Is the tank treated with any CO2? Are any of the discus showing any other signs of distress other than laboured breathing? ie: rubbing against plants/rocks/substrate, enflamed or red gills, discolorations, difficulty swimming, any other outward signs of something wrong

I think he means a airstone to try and help them breath. Also if your ammonia or nitirtes are high that could cause this to.

In case you don't have an airstone (attached to an airpump ofcourse) in there, I recommend you get 1 right away. It's adviced to always well airate water when treating against any type of disease. Most medication leave less room for Oxygen in the water, and this will cause your fish to gasp for air :)

The attatchment for the Juwel filter which allows it to make bubbles. Aswell as the Juwel internal I have an external. Fish are not rubbing up against plants, wood ect.....Its just their breating.

Tank is 53 Gallons.

When I say test results are normal I mean for example Ammonia 0ppm(mg/L) (Yellow). Nitrate Yellow. All are the first colour at the top of the card exept for things such as PH which depends of the type of fish you keep, which I always thought is how it should be?

Do the gills look red or puffed out or pale.

Which fish have the fungus and where, and what does it look like.

It was a Discus fish which already had fungus when I bought it, I didn't notice till I got it home. It spread badly to another Discus and killed it. Another had it on his fins but seems to have stopped now since I can see no white fungus anymore. And the fish that had the fungus in the first place has totally cleared up and grown back its tail.

It wasn't columnaris was it, was it just on the fins or on the body as well, like cotton wool.

The reason why i'm asking is that columnaris can invade the gills as well causing laboured breathing.

Just inspected the tank again after a few hours and they all seem fine now, behaving normal. It was weird and it's happened once before. Thanks for the help.
