Good pikkie,

Just forgot the camera was so close to the glass!

Any pointers on how to avoid the obvious mistake!

Sometimes you are bound to get reflections. Best thing I find is to frame the fish so that you are then able to crop the image to remove the reflection.

Hmm,

Thanks for the info.

Have set up the tri-pod now. Will try again now. The zoom is optical 6x, and 10x digital. It all gets too grainy with the digital zoom. I'll have a fiddle on the exposure time too.

I tend to use the manual settings when taking close ups. My camera has a super macro mode that allows you to get within 1.2inches of the subject.

I also have an underwater housing for the camera which I am thinking of using to take some pics from the perspective of the fish by using the infra red remote control to take the picture. Could be something different.

He's a monster Salvini!

All of two inches and yet he hassles the lot of them.

He's totally nuts. Salvini's have attitude, be under no illusions.

Darkened room.

Sometimes when I take pictures of the tank I put a blanket over my self and the tank so that the only light comes from the tank. Nearly all reflection is then avoided (unless you use a flash)

Of course, if there are unsightly marks, Photoshop has two wonderful tools called clone and repair...

i always angle the camera slightly down and as close to the glass as i can get it. This way you get minimum relfections and flash glare.

A bit of (not so) careful photoshopping, and voila! Of course you can do it much better, but I rushed this. Took me around 2 minutes.
