:) very cute. Our neighbors have one. It spends a lot of its time out in their yard, with their Rotties. It has even claimed one of the dog houses as its own.

they are very cool pets, james and i are definatly going to buy one when we can afford it! you would never have thought that a tortoise would be loving, but she is, she snuggles up into your neck, and is actaully starting to come to you when you sit on the floor near her! i can't wait to have one of our own!!

they're very expensive.. she cost £150.. and she is only tiny!! we've seen them for £349 at a garden centre!! ouch.. but she is a very cool pet!! definatly recommend one for anyone.. she just walks around the living room all day (we had to tortoise proof it though)!!

150 pounds! thats like $300aus!
are tortoises available in Australia? ive never seen them :dunno:

i guess they must be.. it took us a lot of research to find the one we wanted.. ( a lot of dodgy stuff going on .. and ppl just in it for the cash.. do'nt love the animal.. so who knows waht could be wrong with them)!

we ended up buying her from a tortoise sanctuary in cornwall, the woman who runs it is totally in love with the tortoises, and the money she makes from selling the hatchlings goes back into the sanctuary.
i think they said they had 300 tortoises there.. all shapes and sizes, and different breeds, only a few were for sale, as the sale of large tortoises by commercial sellers is prohibited.. as you are not allowed to import them into the country (they are on the endangered species list) therefore by selling young ones only, you erradicate the risk of buying/selling imports!

she had tiny ones.. only a few weeks old, they were a little bigger than a milk bottle lid!!! so tiny.. so cute!!

this isn't all that clear, but it was the only baby pic i could find.. well they are all babies until about the age of 3, but how cute!! the ones in cornwall were even smaller!
