The algae thing was really getting me down this week, but as usual once I got started with my maintenance I got carried away. I spent ages just cleaning algae from the leaves...second Nutrafin CO2 unit is on its way (hopefully by Tuesday). After the water change my plants are pearling again (which I havent seen in 2 weeks. So it's probably a good guess that I'm lacking in CO2. So hopefully I might get a better balance when I get the second unit.

I'm really liking your tank, it'll look even better when the foreground grass spreads more.

Actually the foreground stuff is riccia...I nicked the idea from Jimbooo. It's a floating plant and is held down on slate with a hair net. I tried hair grass, but it died quicker than it grew. I binned the lot in the end. But I'm growing the riccia to try and make more "fake" carpet.

It looks great Sam, really different then when it started out, its like a different tank, im sure the pearling will commence once you get the co2 sorted out, algae aint pretty, but im sure you will agree its was worth the effort to go planted in the first place.

I love the way it looks. What is it that's growing right along the top of the tank ?
Vallis (the one that has grown right across the surface of the water?)

Oh definitely. I'd never have an unplanted tank ever.

Best yet - well done.
Thanks Mr planted genius :D That means a lot :) I think it's my best yet too. I'm skint now though...I think the new CO2 unit is going to have to be it for a while. Wanna save up for tank number 2 and mini betta planted tank :D

I wish. Wannabe guru more like!

Seriously though, you deserve all the nice feedback - you have come a long way in a relatively short time. It took me a lot longer to produce an aquascape of anywhere near equal beauty.

It looks superb Sam(antha).
Thank you Steve! I've gotta ask, cos it's been bugging me for a while. Who are the girls in your sig?

You are the guru! Although I must admit you've got some serious competition.

:*) keep those compliments coming :D Although the photo looks better than the real thing :) There is algae everywhere (co2 unit should be coming today). I prefer to look at my tank in the reflection of the window...then I cant see the algae!

//edit cos i can't type properly.

Good grief ! - I didn't know Vallis would do that (grow right along the surface of the water). That must make some of the strands about 2ft long ? Doesn't it block light to the plants below ?

Clockwise from left, Angelina Jolie, Monica Bellucci (Persephone from the Matrix trilogy), Bridget Moynahan (from the film Coyote Ugly) and Carmen Electra.
