7.30 its swimming at 90 degrees and cant swim right and its got little white spots all over it? whats that all about?

all my other fish are fine.

i dont understand if its the dreaded ich then does the white spot come that quickly? i know they werent there at lunch time because i spent 10 mins looking at the fish.

Can you post water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, what size tank in gallons, how many fish and which type, stressed fish can soon get whitespot, if the fish look like it has been sprinkled in salt then yes it is suffering from whitespot i'm afraid.

apart from actual numbers Nitrite is fine ok i have got it its 0.3mg/l
ph is fine although i cant give you a number reading
nitrate/ammonia i cant test

the tank is a rekord 70gallon

temp is 79.7degrese

i have

6 neon tetras
2 platy's (including ill one)
2 clown loaches
1 angelfish
2 guppys
1 other fish which i dont know what its called but it just sucks on the floor! and is clear

Clown loaches are very prone to whitespot, you do no that the tank is way to small for the clown loaches 90gal tank for them, angel need at least a 30gal also, the little whitespots look like grains of salt you will need to medicate, read instruction as sometimes you have to half dose with clown loaches, also keep an eye on the neon tetra's as they are very sensitive to meds and whitespot, angel hunt them in the wild, so not an ideal choice, don't add salt as clown loaches are scaless fish, maybe turn temp up abit.

The one on the floor is it a plec don't turn temp up to much as they don't like high temps.

when we had hot weather the temp was at 86f would that be ok?

If they coped with it yes, add an airstone for extra aeration as meds take the 02 out of the water, good luck.

ive got a air block with a pump sending air in the tank anyway

actually ive got a spare tank upstairs in the hottest room in the house ive just checked the nitite and its fine would you think it would be better to put the fish in there?

Best to medicate the whole tank as the parasites in there, don't want to be spreading it.

ok thanks for the help im very greatfull

just to let you know i dont think the fish is going to make it so my next port of call is should i carry on with the med's to try an get rid of the white spot again

and also would a water change help at all?

oh he cant swim right side up either thats why i think hes on his way out... :(

ive done a water change

now a strange question i had to suck some water through my cleaning tube and it went in my mouth!!

im not going to get ill am?

i dont want ich!!!!

Ok just a follow-on again

i didnt want to do this but i felt that to save the rest of my fish if im lucky i did a 40% water change.

ive got the temp up to 84F it was 82F

ive put some more med in and i cleaned the gravel/plants and rocks but kept the old filters in

i put the play to rest. :(

i now think that to lose 1 fish is better than losing the rest.

i need to rehome my angelfish as i believe my 70ltr tank is to small for it?

i can see signs of ich in the other fish ie scratching on the glass and swimming near the top but no signs of white spot on any of them

although i do have a long finned danio that is swolen and also a neon tetra. could this be a sign of something else which i need to look at?

anyway thanks for any suggestions and all the help you have given me sofar.

RI.P. to the one that died, a swollen belly can mean, constipation, dropsy, are scales sticking out like a pinecone, swimbladder, can the fish maintain it's balance in the water, also internal parasites.
