Ok these pics were requested by subs but anyone can join in. Am having probs fitting new external filter. It's up and running but the tank lid won't close. First a whole tank shot.

If I move that nearly horizontal pie so it is horizontal, it fouls the internal filter. Hope that gives subs an idea of the prob. Any other suggestions welcome.

How long have you had the external filter running? After 3 weeks (there should be enough bactiria in the new filter to cope ) I would take the internal filter out.

If the pipe still keeps the open. Take your hood off and cut some out so the pipe sits lower down.

It's only been running a few days but the internal filter is fixed in and Monty, my frontosa 'lives' under it (he'd be sad!!). Is it ok then to cut some out of the hood or did you mean the plastic back of the tank?

If it was my tank yes. I'd cut some room for the pipe, but give the new filter time then after removing the internal see if it fits, if it does you dont have to cut anything ;)

glolite,

Don't cut the 'ring' on the tank!

It's the reinforcer for the top of the tank! Bang goes the tank if you cut it! I can see what you mean now, I'll see what I can do. It might take me a couple of days to measure up, and visit the LFS to try out my dogleg, but I will get back to you, OK?

sub.

Thanks sub, don't worry I'm far too nervous to use a saw on my lovely tank. Anyway, I thought the whole point of getting another filter was double filtration. No offense to strontiumdog but I feel happier with 2 filters on a tank of that size. Will wait till you get back to me thanks.
