It's sorta an emergency, if dad comes home and this stuff is everywhere empty tank could end up being evicted!!!!

I can't understand about the filter, can anyone help? Where am I stuffing this wool stuff- does this plastic rectangle thing come out?!!

I don't know what I am doing!!!!

Are you using the Juwel Compact H filter system ?
Are you using the original white filter media ?
If so, remember they come in a box of 5. Just peel off one and put it in the very top part of the filter (but underneath the plastic handles).
Hope that helps and makes sense.

Ok, this is the juwel filter compact super.

There's a black rectangle on it's end in the corner of my tank.

My instructions say, remove the filter basket containing the other sponges pulling it out whilst holding down the separation wall... but all I have managed is pulling out THE separation wall, and there's no sponges in that!!!

There's a cube with the bottom filled in on one side of this separation wall and a sort of empty cube on the other side.

Sorry, thank you for helping! I found a clear plastic thing-- with a sort of grill at the bottom, maybe this is what they wanted me to pull out?!!

If it's a Juwel internal filter, mine came with three blue filter sponges (two course & one slighlt finer) as well as the white filter floss and a black carbon sponge. The instructions were to take the plastic wrap off everything. Put the finer blue sponge into one of the plastic filter baskets and lower that into the chamber first. Then in the second basket put the two course blue filters, followed by the black carbon filter with one while filter floss on top and lower that in. Did it come with a variety of filter pads ?

Hiya, there's a white one, a green one, a black one and a blue one.

It says I should have two blue ones! Have they sent me the wrong thing?!!

I have taken the partition wall out and put it back and now I can't remember what side's what! Does the sponge bit stand on the emty cube or the filled in type one?!

I'm sorry, I never tried any thing like this before. :*)

Right the greens coarse and the blue is fine, so maybe they are the '2 blue' in the instructions?!

Sounds like yours is slightly different to mine. Do you have the original instruction book that came with it ? Which aquarium have you got ? The Juwel website has all their instruction manuals in pdf form - www.juwel-aquarium.de/uk/

Hope that helps :)

OoOOOh thankyou, I'm going to look at that.

Yup it's the booklet that was in it, but yeah it does not quite seem to fit.

Typical, nothings ever easy for me, I just don't want to get this wrong and massacre some innocent fish!

I know my instructions had me a bit confused at first because I didn't seem to have all the parts that were shown - turned out some of them had already been partly pre-assembled. How far with your set up are you trying to get before your folks get home ?

I have no decor yet, so all I want is the little bits in the aquarium and not all over the floor, and the box and stuff tidied away.

It's not so much to ask is it?!! :-(

lol, well I may actually be getting somewhere, if I just believe that the green thing is a blue thing. My rod is in and I clipped in my heater.

Is there much point in moistening these sponges when no water is going in till tomorrow?!

Ok, this is how it looks- note rubber band! I've not wet the sponges yet, do that tomorrow when my decor is here and I'm beginning the putting together.

There's a fine blue one on the grill bit
A coarse green one
Then the black carbon
And the little white bit on the top.

What do you think?

 that's the way it should be !

Without the rubber band of course ;) (but you probably just used it for the pic)

Here's another shot, I'm actually gonna keep a pictorial diary so this is all ok with me!!

This is looking into that corner rectangle, which is back right of the aquarium. This is inside, the filter presumably slots into the right hand side.

Here on the left we see the heater- clipped in towards the back
And the water rod, closest to, pointing through the grill,

is this right?!! :)

:D Thank you, I will of course be removing that band- I could not get it to sit ok without it!!

I appreciate the watchful eye from everyone and all the help very much.

I'll be putting the filter inside the currently empty aquarium to sit as is, so it's out of the way, then wetting the sponges that need wetting tomorrow, then coming home with my decor and beginning to add water...

And then of course that afternoon I will be adding my leaf fish- they eat tetra flake food right?

*sorry, bad taste joke... I'll crawl back under my rock*
