LOL .. Whoops! Oh well, you never know unless you try!

Did you boil the rocks after glueing? Maybe you should boil before? (Not sure though - I don't have a crafty bone in my body, except for when it comes to quilting :) And I don't think bettas would appreciate little quilts in their tanks    )

I am a thrift store addict, so I find *all* my supplies there, including decorations (though I now have live plants), tanks, heaters, filters...

You can get everything for like .25 cents :D

When I was first starting out, this is what my tank looked like (quite different now though):

The 12 gallon tank, cave, gravel, pot and plants were all found there for $7.00 total.

another big tank cave

i know its a little late now but you never EVERRRR want to use superglue in the aquarium...aquarium sealant/silicone serves the purpose just fine....you can really make some nice/cheap caves out of some silicone and pieces of slate (you can buy enough slate for 4 small caves for around a couple dollars).....it is really simple and that way you get exactly what you want...btw, assuming the tank is 2.5 gallons or less, i found that the caves from Petsmart that were posted take up way too much space, plus i happen to have that exact cave and of the 3 bettas i have had, none ever swam through it...i think they feel cornered if it doesn't have a clear path THROUGH it

Nice caves corkykitty! I love the pic of your betta just hangin' in the pot!!

Cynthia

P.S. I noticed you live in South Carolina - that's where we're going on vacation this year :) Can't wait to get to the beach!!!!!!!

Just thought I'd let you know!
Interesting, I had just came across that cave last night when browsing the PS site.. it doesn't list dimensions on the site though... can you tell me roughly what size it is (or measure, lol) and most importantly is the hole(s) big enough for a Betta to swim through, fins umolested? I haven't been able to find that in the store to evaluate the size. Thanks!

i'd say probably 6-8" long, 4-5" wide, 3-5" tall....and i did not find it large enough for a betta to swim through easily..nor did they ever want to, i just dont think it looks open enough to them...they like large arches from my experiences

hmm that bites.. i might have to pass on that one. still on the quest for the perfect cave! have not yet tried pvc though...
