I bought one today at the lfs. I never heard of them ive only heard of a half moon betta. Are new moons rare? Hes cute. Im posting pics. the 1st 2 are him then jersey and hersey. I got a problem as u can see in the pic hersey has been acting very depressed lately. He has like a rashy thing one one side. It looks like a reptile skin when its shedding. He ate this morning but has been all moppy all afternoon. He has 2 gallons to swim in. please can i have advice tnk

"New Moon" is not a recognized tail type. It must be something else.

If you could give a close-up from the side, we'd be able to tell you what he really is.

dang i think i got ripped off!
It sayed new moon on the little bowl. I put a new pic best i could get.

Looks like a Plakat, or a VERY young Delta. Could really go either way.

well i really didn't get ripped off it was only 4.99 and its really pretty. Its fins look like a flower pettle. It was worth it even though i thought it was going to be some rare breed everyone envyed for. So sad but its ok!

i envy it ... it only costed 5.00 dolla i cant find pretty and cheap bettas! ANYWHERE!

It could be a cross between a plakat and a halfmoon/delta but new moon is something someone made up to sell them, I see that a lot, it's dumb for these people to do that.
