Looks like I'll be getting a bigger tank...the deal was too good to pass up.

It is a baby Lionfish. SW, venemous, and voracious predators that like to sit around and look pretty :p

its fab!!!! they are the onyl reason i would go marien, well them and fire fish, wich would of course mean 2 tnaks, hhhmmmmm

I thought it looked like a lion fish I just wasnt sure :D What size tank is it in?

before I answer, keep in mind it is half the size of my mandarinfish :p

It WILL be in a 75 gallon bowfront, but now it is in the 28 for at least the next two weeks.

16 to 18 inches. not as quickly as an oscar grows, but still pretty darn quick. anything under 75 gallons long term will be very very bad for them

16-18 inches? wow, that could be pretty intimidating...an lfs near me had one that was probably 5-6 inches and they dropped in a feeder...it was pretty cool how fast the lionfish attacked. have fun with him!

We got some of them in a zoo near us, and I've got to admit they're absolutely drop dead gorgeous. My boyfriend keeps asking me if he can have 1 every time we go near them :p Perhaps, 1 day ...

For now though, we'll just have to drool over your pictures, but the photo as well as fish are lovely.

Beautiful!
They are the only reason I would do sw tanks too!
Always had a love for something that was so vemous, I don't know why -_-
Beautiful find Micheal!
