I went to an LFS near me to pick up some filter pads, because it's making a bit of a racket and it's upsetting my plec, who likes hanging on it, and I 'wandered' past the fish to have a look. There was a tank with a few females bettas in it, and in the bottom corner was a really sad looking one. I did a "Fred Flintstone" style double-take on it, and noticed she had a double tail (someone might want to confirm that from the pic), whereas all of the others were CTs and VTs.

I went to one of the shop assistants and asked him how much his females were - he said £3.99, the same as the males. That's about 6 or 7 dollars, for anyone who wants to compare US and UK prices. I said, "I'd like that one, there", and the reply came, "Why that one? There's something wrong with it's tail. If you want that one, I'll give it to you for £2.99, because there's something bad about its tail." Wow, £2.99, bargain *sarcasm*.

When I got to the counter, and paid with a five pound note, he gave me £3.01 in change, so I got a DT (check) female for half the price, because the guy who served me didn't know she was a special little girl, and can't subtract £2.99 from £5.

Not a massive scale betta rescue, but now I see how it's so easy to make a betta rescue, especially when they tug at your heart strings like she did.

I haven't named her yet - it's open to the mob for any crazy suggestions

Hehehe, hey, it was to your advantage Next time maybe try and convince him that one of the females is male with tiny fins, and since it has something wrong with it you should get it cheaper Or something of the sort. £3.99, not bad. The cheapest I can get is £3, buts their all VT's.

its liek you see a ct female at walmart and the dumbys are like "oh my ####in god the tail is shreded! lets discount it to 1 dollar!" ...i got a ct a long time ago at walmart like that (amyI was the ct female that they thought was shreded!)

That is DEFINITELY a Doubletail. Look at the clear separation of the two tail lobes, and the immense size of the dorsal fin. I have an example of a male for you to compare to....



See how big his dorsal is? One of the traits of Doubletails is that massive dorsal.

Kiarra your betta looks well-fed what do you feed him??
