I just did a search for watersprite, some of them are floating and some are stemmed plants, and now i'm totally confused.

I was sold a floating plant (the one in the pic). That has grown like mad in my main tank, so I transfered some to my small tank. It has now started to grow a stem out of the water.

But this plant looks very similar to the stemmed watersprite (another plant i have in my main tank ).

Are the one in the same :S

please help :-(

I think they are the same. If floating it will grow horizontally, but if planted in substrate it will grow a stem and grow vertically.

No actually there are three different species of ceratopteris. Some like to grow in the substrate, some like to be floating, but mostly they're all the same. Do some digging in google, I just don't feel like doing it now!!
The stem that grows out of the water is normal emersed vegetation, you can cut it off if you like, but you don't have to. Sometimes it gets burned by the light's heat, but if I'm correct, I think yours is far away enough from the light.
I hope this helps!

EDIT: I must be really tired!! Can't spell worth a darn...
