Can anyone tell me what this is, growing on my Juwel background.....It is spreading all over the background....All the plants and rocks are fine.....

looks like red algae Rhodophyta
very hard to erradicate :/
 
I forgot to add that I had a nitrate problem in my tank in Febuary ( but thats another story) and the problem started then. I have used an algae remover, but it hasnt worked at all........It looks so unsightly :(
 
If it is limited to the background only and is not spreading to your plants or other decor then why worry? I think it looks quite natural from the photo you've posted.

If you really want to eradicate it then you may have to remove the background and bleach it. Also I'm not sure but Siamese Algae Eaters may eat it if they become hungry enough. Good luck.
