finally he built a little bubble nest! I feel kinda bad that there's nothing for him to put in it (and there won't be). Tonight it was broken up quite a bit so I guess he did that? There's no current where he built it so it wouldn't have fallen apart on it's own, I don't think. Anyway here's a pic of it. I guess it's small but he's just a beginner.

The reason it's broken up is that the bubbles do pop all on their own, and the nests will get a broken appearance because the male isn't bothering to replace the popping bubbles like he would in a nest that contained eggs, or that he was prepping to show off to a female.

Yay! At least your betta makes bubble nests. Mine is too scared to make one because of the unchangable current. Bah.

They look so cute when they make bubble nests!

Skylar...get you a piece of filter foam, cut a slit in the middle and stick it on your intake tube..that'll slow your current down tremendously.

I don't think they make bubble nests just becasue they want to breed...personally I think most of them do it (the ones who haven't laid eyes on a female) because they are bored and/or content.

Of course it's not JUST for breeding. They do it when they're happy and healthy because it's instinctive for them to blow bubblenests when conditions are good for them. Storing eggs and fry is just what they use it for when they have the opportunity.
