kind of looks like a tinfoil barb which grow to 14".

have you got another picture of it, side on.

how big is it at the moment,

has it have any colouring on the fins..even faint?

from that pic i would also have to say its a tinfoil barb, although im not 110% sure.

I'm with Paul [ and jon , ] , but not sure as tinfoils , at least the ones I've had , had a reddish color on the fins .

That is a great shot BYW  .

It is a good shot isnt it :) o was thinking tinfoil barb as well not a shark, but its also true that there is no red/orange in the fins, who lmpws though it might have just been born with none because i really think it is a tinfoil.

Then again it looks like a cross breed with a bala

I think i might just be down to the view of it!!

and you can also see the thick spines coming off the dorsal fin and on the tail, plus on the pectoral fins there is a tint of orangy red.

i'm not keen on tinfoils after i had to ctach up 4 full gornw ones at work, and those spines sure are spikey!!

Right now it is about 6.5 " long and has orangeish color on his fins .

Stacey , you could try posting in cyprinids/ characines forum , though from the second pic it does look more like a tinfoil .

well in the first pic i wouldnt not have said tin foil, but in the second id say its definatly a tinfoil

Thanks alot now that I know I did find more pics of the same looking fish .

I would say tinfoil too and that sucker will grow big!

That first pic is just amazing! Tinfoils are so difficult to get a decent pic of and that is outstanding.
