He's a beautiful snake, such nice even bands! How old is he? He's a normal, not an apricot, right?

You may want to re-think the sand substrate... sand is not so suitable for milks. The forest bedding, however, is PERFECT! Just be sure to feed him in a substrate-free container to avoid impaction. (If you already know all this, sorry!)

not too sure how old or what type, this is my 1st go at snakes, i talked to the guy that used to work where i work that knows his stuff about reptiles and snakes and he said a sandy-soil would be best so i thought i'd make it half and half, when it comes to feeding time i'm going to get a saucer of some kind to sit the pinkies on so he doesnt' ingest any of it

he seems to enjoy digging in the sand and louging on the forest floor, but right now he's probably just happy to be out of that small container and in the 38 gallon tank he's in now lol

Snakes are great! Though I have worked with snakes in the past, I just got my first snake this month... see the post in this forum called "snakes", mine is about 5 or 6 posts in.

Oh, yah, I bet he's diggin the cage... he'll only grow to about 3 ft, so that's a palace for him!

Just be sure that, while he's young, he has a few small hides, one on the warm side, and another on the cool. If he can't fit snugly inside or under something, he could get stressed. Young snakes especially need a lot of security. In the wild, they would hide all day.

If you haven't already, check out www.ssnakess.com. It's a pretty good forum, I have learned a lot!

your snake is gorgeous

I'm not sure on age or sex as i am still in the learning phase but if i had to wager a guess I'd say it's around 1 footish in length

Probably about the same age as mine, then!

The only way to find out the sex of your snake is to take him to someone who knows what he's doing. "Probing" a snake can be risky, and can do a lot of damage if it's not done right. To be honest, it doesn't really matter what the sex is unless you plan to breed, and that can't be done for at least 2, if not 3, years.

Good luck with him!

Edited to say: Ha, I totally forgot that my snake is in my avatar, too! DUH! Didn't need to make you go hunting down posts!
