a copper betta

I've been wondering that for a long time. Are their scales shinier or something? If shiny scales make a betta count as copper, I think the plakat bkk gave me is quite copperly lol. He's like green and some redish orangish wash with REALLY shiny scales. I just want to know what a betta has to have to count as a copper betta

thanks

i cant explain on the copper very well, but im pretty sure it isnt shiny scales.

this is only because you can have blue and green masks, which are also shiny. i would imagine BKK's betta is masked.

as far as copper, ive only seen silver and bronze colored coppers, but i am still kind of in question.

I saw two copper betta's the other day. One was a Halfmoon and the other a Plakat. Both were sold as "copper" betta's. They look something like this:

What makes them qualify as copper? Um... they look copper coloured? :p

I never realized copper was that rare. The importer breeder where I got Karl, Kobie and Ryujin is offering me a Copper Halfmoon for 1000 local and a Kelson Say Plakat at 1500 local. Maybe I should take one of them?

For comparison Kobie (Plakat) and Ryujin (Plakat) cost 400 local, and Karl (HM) 600 local from the same source. From the LFS Sam (female) 20 local, Max (VT) 25 local, Gir (CT) 40 local, Thor (VT) 45 local and Winston (Plakat) 50 local.

A mask betta is the color of the head, not shiny scales either. You can have a mask on about any color, whether it's normally irrid or metallic.

Do I understand correctly. A masked Betta is one that has the same color of face and body?

Okay I think I get it now. When you say mask you mean the color of the Betta's face.

Yes, and no. :p Not all bettas are masked. For example, some bettas might be blue with a dark head, but not a blue head. If the blue scales from their body extended onto the head, that would be a mask. Make sense?

Here's my masked blue. :)
