I have 2x36w lighting from AHSupply.com... I wanted to build my hood and was asking my dad if he had any spare wood I could use then he ended up building it.. He doesn't like it so he's going to build me a better one heh..
Also the tank is 24in in height. It looks great I love how bright the light is, it makes the tank look really nice, it will look even better once I get a background.

Thats awesome it would look so nice plants with some rams and a few other bright colored fish. How big is it?
It's a 30 gallon hex tank. The width is 20in, height is 24 in.
The fish I'm currently planning on getting is below:
3 Platies
6-7 tetras
5-6 cory catfish
and
these options.. 3 banded gourami, 2 dwarf gourami, 5 honey gourami.. Depends on what the LFS has.
If you have any better suggestions please tell me, I'm going to be getting the fish in a couple days.
I'm planning on amazon sword plants if they have them and others depending on what the LFS has..

Plants would work very well.
Territoriality might be a problem with the gouramis. However, I have kept a pair of dwarves in my 45 gallon (15 bigger and much wider, comparatively) without problem.
It's the shape, I suppose, that made me think it was so tall.

I'm worried about the corys...what is the height for it....I personally wouldn't keep them higher than 15-18".....just me though/
